R. 74 Internationale, remains in MONO only whether music or talk, and I should add is constantly undermodulated, which seems odd for an FM station, altho a pervasive problem with AM signals on SW or MW, presumably because of ageing equipment incapable of full modulation. Despite my previous reports, WTFDA FMDB still does not mark it MONO (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 91.7, Sunday June 9 at 1659 UT as I am hunting for Es DX, notice that KOSU is in $tereo music, and indeed ToH ID also branding as ``The Spy``. On weekdays the rule is mono until 0000 UT with NPR/etc. news/talk, then $ $py. This is amid a bihour 16-18 UT program per sked, `Toaster Brunch` of Jamaican music [not to be confused with low-power 6YC-395 in Kingston or 6YC-648 in Montego Bay]. But there is more $py on weekends; trouble is, KOSU sked does not make it clear which are which nor which are mono! `The Spy` is title of specific local-originated music blox, but also applies to music stuff from elsewhere. O, this explains that Toaster Brunch is the only Spy-program outside the overnight blox, along with convoluted history of The Spy branding from one OK station to another, to another, etc.: https://www.kosu.org/show/the-spy I suppose there could be some non-Spy programming with a musical element, whether or not KOSU master control bother to switch $tereo on and off. I suppose The Spy deal be financially advantageous for KOSU as it has endured, despite discouraging public-radio contributors who would not want any of their money going to support that for which KOSU has semisold its soul (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 93.9, June 12 at 2019 UT, dead air in $tereo, no doubt semi-local KIMY Watonga. RDS still displays statickly GOSPEL__ / STATION. Still dead at further chex past 2200. Std remark about how can a station expect to have any listeners if no one there even notices when it`s silent? Used to have a translator in Enid on 93.1 which added another level of unreliability (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 107.7, June 9 at 1633 past 1700 UT as I am fruitlessly bandscanning for any Sporadic E, can`t help but notice dead air in $tereo here, where near-local quality 92/92 kW KRXO OKC should be, silly sportstalk. Not only on caradio but on DX-398 showing static RDS: _CHISE___ -- but that may be holdover from another frequency as I can`t get it again by tuning away and back. A remote possibility poor KRXO is being supplanted here by yet another idling Part 15 RF feeder, but why would it not be on a `clear` frequency? 1830 recheck still DA, and RDS icon does display tho nothing in the RDS window. Depending on whip angle, seems to be a weak modulated undersignal, but probably from overload (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, June 6 at 0503 UT, solid reception of KTEN Ada, 10-1, totally overriding local Enid 3ABN satellator K17JN-D - unless it`s off. Last few days of heavy tropo have had it BAD or breaking up due to DX QRM. 10-2 is KTEN-CW, 10-3 KTENABC. 10-1 is NBC // KFOR. Back in the analog days, KTEN was also affiliated with both NBC and ABC, but with one channel had to pick one or the other at any given time, especially prime. In minor ``market`` with Ardmore`s KXII-TV with both CBS and NBC, IIRC. Most of the other ``open`` channels show BAD signals now: 10, 11, 12, 14, 20, 21, 22, 26, 31, 34, 35, 36. While the only other decoding is RF28 Ion 44-1 from Tulsa market (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, June 12 at 1510 UT and at random chex last few days, Enid`s only local TV signal, K17JN-D misidentifying as K17JI-D, is apparently off again. Now there is a BAD signal on RF 17, probably KTEN Ada, as area tropo is up. Or possibly K17JN-D is on but underpowered, and even more subject to DX QRM. It`s the 3ABN network satellator with multiple sub-channels, two or three of them AUDIO ONLY (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. KFOR-TV, channel 4 [RF 27], OKC, is celebrating its 75th anniversary, originally WKY-TV, and interimly KTVY. A half-hour special, `Visionaries`, aired June 6 at 2330 UT: rather self-congratulatory, and I was disappointed it did not include 3-D Danny and Foreman Scotty! Now I find that 17715 for S America is unusually almost as good as 17855 for us, i.e. S9+10/20, better than off the back to ME 15520, only S8/S9; and 15390 for Africa S7/S9 with an echo, long/short path? Theoretically 15520 would more likely echo but too strong already directly off the back (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Monday June 9 at 2200, token English from SNR, VG S9+30/40 direct and the other three confirmable. Other three frequencies much weaker but audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, Sunday June 9 at 2203, VOT not off the air, Ms Badax speaking, sounds more like commentary than olds this early in hour, but pauses for ``news`` sounder. S9+35/40 into UTwente. 2218 `Letterbox` starts, host obviously looking at mail for very first time, no preparation. Says he will be off next week for 5-6 day holiday, sounded like Eid?? So will spend with family. Weather is hot now, explains seasons. First from Argentina, Nestor di F------, who says he is not getting foreign postal mail, so please eQSL? And then another one from him with photos. His report from February was for 7240 - but the B23 HFCC shows that used only for Uighur at 03, and not at all in A24! VOT refuses by policy to eQSL but maybe host will photo a QSL for him and send that to him! This first one took a full 10 minutes. 2228, Konstantin Barsenkov, a regular from St. Pete, Russia; Greece - comments on how despite hostilities some Turx like to visit Greece. Then from India in English about listening in Urdu. Another from India explaining what SDRs are. Second one from the first Indian. Another from India. Finally ``my man``, Alan Holder, Isle of Wight, UK, who impresses host with how much he knows about Turkey, but has not been listening much lately due to chores, rainy May. Discusses host`s motorcycle accident, urges him to avoid sheep. Got new tyres, as Honda dealer urges Turkish ones better for its terrain than Japanese ones. By law in Turkey, cars have to swap winter and summer tires twice a year, a nuisance. Alan wants more content about what`s going on in Turkey, less music and less commentary about international affairs. Explains that the only news they can broadcast is what has been provided in original Turkish for translation. 2251 finally ``time`s up`` but no music filler this time as he has run almost up to end of transmission! Holder reply was at least 10 minutes too, but did not note exactly when it started. 2252 L`box outro theme. 2253 Ms Badax s/off as if the 1230 on 17620, and IS played only one sesquitime before chop by 2254*, no finesse (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785, June 7 at 2158, zero signal direct from VOT, which ought to show since Romania 11800 is quite audible. 2203 algo on 11785 much weaker than 11780 Brasil. UTwente chex later at 2220, 2231, 2240: VOT definitely absent in English. Not on 11795 mispunch either. 9875 overrun? not checked until 2254, but no. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. So they also miss a chance not to German at 2300. 7275.018, June 8 at 0316, however, final repeat of the previous UT day is on, S9+15/25 into UTwente during music. // 6165.005, aimed away, is S8/S9, and diminishing. 0325 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 0328 `Turkish Folk Tales` about friendship. 0335 music. But when I check UTwente, where measured, at 2228 outroducing `The Energy Agenda`, into music, it`s S9+45/50 with sufficiently good modulation altho slightly less than also strong Romania 11800. 2241 `Turkey`s Geomarked {sic} Products` about some kind of goat/sheep milk into cream/butter (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. Continued from last report: VOT English, 11785.009, into UTwente June 8 at 2253 reverted to Ms Badax` s/off claiming this was the 1230 on 17620, and IS until chop at 2255.8* just in time to avoid switching to German IDs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, June 10 at 2159, no signal direct of VOT English, nor by 2200 when I switch to SPAIN, q.v. At 2224 I tune it in via UTwente when measured at usual offset, and S9+55/60! during `The Energy Agenda`. 2227 promo trtvotworld.com for 41 languages. [Later I check that: at first there appear to be linx to 41 languages, but several duplicated with different spellings or scripts, denoting dialects? Two each of Azeri, Tatar, Turkmen, and three of Uyghur! Furthermore, Dari & Pashto, so what is Afghan?? Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian also get separate entries. Maybe there be only 33?] Followed by pounding music to match the pounding signal. 2232, `That`s Why`, Ms Badax about serpent representing medicine. 2237 ``always-by-your-side`` promo, song. 2242 ``with-you-every-hour`` promo, music. 2248 ``a-b-y-s-`` again. 2252 TRTWorld promo again. 2253 s/off by Ms Badax as if the 1230 on 17620: something`s always awry at Ankara. Then IS, 2256 pause and restart with German IDs. 2300 timesignal and s/on German with satellite info and frequencies for the two correct German outsendings, into news, or I daresay Altrichten until chopoff at 2303.3*. Immer etwas fehlerhaft zu Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.019, June 11 at 2158 no signal direct from VOT English. Into UTwente at 2231 when measured further off-frequency than usual, Ms Badax in commentary about Pak/India, music. 2246 `Turkey`s Geomarked Products` about carpets -- maybe they are not trying to say ``geomarketed`` which would mean exported, sold abroad, while geomarked seems to be something about marking sources of products on a map. 2249 music. 2254 Badax s/off as if the 1230, chopoff at 2254.7* before IS can start. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, June 12 at 2159, VOT IS JBA direct vs S9 noise level. Also confirmed finally starting at 2330 instead of 2333 on IRRS/NEXUS/IBA/IPAR webcast, and playing to completion 2359. However, I noticed another show was faded out incomplete before 2330, `Off the Wall`. A bit I heard seemed to be anti-*rump tho a clip of him played. It originates with WUSB on LINY and its podcast at least times a full 60 minutes: https://www.2600.com/offthewall/ -- at 0000 June 9, IRRS webcast started `Feature Story News`, which used to precede WOR at 2330, but dumped out of it after a few seconds, into piano music until 0005 and then dead air. Specific programming before and after is unaccounted for on the IRRS sked as in so much of their 24/7, generic. Altho I was notified explicitly of it last week that WOR would air Sundays at 11:30 CEST [0930 UT] when SW 9510 is on, that does not show on sked yet. Does anyone hear it? I really need to be sound asleep at that time; and so I was June 9. Unfortunately, I was so involved with IRRS that I forgot to check for WOR on WRMI 9955 at 0000 UT Sunday. Did anyone hear it? Confirmed UT Sunday June 9 from 0420 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, another very late start more than an hour past nominal 0315v. Followed `TWIAR`. Heavy storming across the southern half of MO, so I played better into Peoria than much closer Warrenton. Also confirmed Sunday June 9 after 3-minute Verdi theme at 1900, WOR starting at 1903 and still faded down and out at 1930 two minutes before I am finished, for ID and VOA News on IRRS via AM Italia, 1322.995 kHz, S9+15 into nearby Noale SDR. Next: 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; {off the air} 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW; {canceled!} 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Pre-`AAAWWW` check of WBCQs, June 7 at 2341, into Maryland SDR: 3265+ and 5130+ still OFF. 6160 - 70 Hz = 6159.93 TOMBS? 7490 -71 Hz = 7489.929, S9+20/25 FKB. 9330.000, S9+15 of WLCR Brazuguese. After 0000 UT Sat June 8, on 7490- ONLY, disclaimer that following AAAWWW originally aired Friday January 26, 2024. So now it`s the seventh rerun in a row! I already reported on that one when new. Where are A&A now and why are they not producing new shows? As usual, not a clue on the WBCQ website and I can`t follow twits if any on X (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7288.90V, June 12 at 0637, ham in AM, immediately recognizable voice of ``Timtron`` - Tim Smith of WBCQ presumably from faraway home QTH, Skowhegan, Maine. And he`s talking about WBCQ! Unfortunately fading, R3/S5-S9 so I cannot copy all the details, but fragments. Mentions air filters for transmitters, Allan this-and-that. The MW-50 transmitter. Got a transmitter from WYFR/WRMI in FL, moved by Ryder rent-a-truck. Now his signal has varied down to 7288.82. 3265 transmitter is just sitting there, nobody wants to buy time on it. Refers to a fire happening, belch. Not clear whether something recent or historical. Finally at 0648 gives his callsign WA1HLR,  and off. Can`t hear his contact. 0649 back on and back up to 7288.90. Says WBCQ has a CP to move FM station into non-commercial band! Finishes at 0653 addressing his contact as Blair (?). And I am QRT whether he is or not. If he runs much later into night, will clash with RRIndonesia on 7289.93; watch out, Ron Howard. The 7290 area of course is hangout for AM hams on 40m. Timtron is usually in the 3890 AM area on 80m band. FCC FM Query and LMS do not show any CP for WBCQ-FM 94.7 and the only other in Monticello is their translator of 780, W252DW on 98.3. 94.7 is licensed until 04/01/2030 to ``Allan H Weiner & Barbara A. Weiner`` -- I guess the A is for Angela? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9455, June 8 at 0040, WRMI is S9+20/30 but just barely modulated = JBM: YL talk intonation sounds Japanese? Yes, RAE relay in Japanese sked this hour Tue-Sat. 9395 is much better modulated, Wavescan sked - is it no longer attributed to AWR? Adrian Peterson is retired, and AWR HQ ignores it on own skeds. Also compare to 9955 where WRMI is as usual somewhat undermodulated, worse than 9395, better than 9455 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9955, Sat June 8 at 0614, WRMI with news in Spanish all about ARGENTINA, S9/+25. Surely RAE relay but at totally unsked time and frequency. 9955 used to stay on overnight on UT Sat & Sun only with TOMBS. And still as such this hour on the System E, TOMBS sked. But current System B sked shows at 06-10 UT, World Radio Network, and Internet only except weekends 9955! WRN`s own A24 sked for N America, and Europe, at 0600 UT shows Deutsche Welle (in English, of course). The separate WRMI grid for RAE relays shows Spanish only at 01-02 Tue-Sat on 9455. Somethings` very odd at Okeechobee! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9955, UT Sunday June 9 at 0650, like last night, q.v., WRMI in unscheduled Spanish, assumed then to be RAE relay. Now S7/S9 direct, interview in Spanish mainly about Chile. I`m listening carefully and there is never a clue that it`s RAE other than proximity. At 0659 no program outro or ID, pause, NO WRMI ID either, 0700 into ``Radio Poland`` in English. In fact ``Polish Radio External Service`` is on the A24 WRN North America schedule at 0700-0800 daily; but at 0630-0700 it`s NHK, in English of course (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7505, June 6 at 0620 check, WRNO is OFF, unlike 24 hours ago; what next? Late on UT Wed only? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2246) ** U S A. 9265V, June 8 at 0038, WINB carrier is wobbly, as obvious tuned to 9264-USB; has been worse and has been better (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 12050, June 8 at 0048, no signal from WEWN Spanish - nor have noticed it last few days nor in afternoon - gone again or forever? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 15610, June 9 at 1502, JBA carrier, at this hour presumably ChiCom jamming and/or SOH, but reminds me about WEWN, so I ask Glen Tapley: ``WEWN never on SW now? Hello Glen, Have not heard 15610 in a long time, and recently not 12050 either whenever checked at random various hours. Could you enlighten us about the prospects for WEWN ever returning to SW in English and/or Spanish? Regards,`` Another check of 12050 at 2353 June 10: nada (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) No reply, June 12 ** U S A. 101.3, June 9 at 1648 UT, ad for Burlington, in Garden City. Surely this be KFDI-FM in distant Wichita, our semi-local, but guess what? WTFDA DB shows in KS one entry besides KFDI-FM with 100 kW, is a 100-WATT CP, 14m high antenna for a NEW station on 101.3 in GARDEN CITY! Which I am surely not getting, but I wonder if planned to be a mere booster for KFDI, jumping the gun with local ad for GC?? (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** U S A. 102.3 FM, June 10 at 2028 UT, another fruitless search for Es DX on caradio gets something other than KRMG Tulsa here: Country, ``102-3 the Bull`` - that`s KWFS-FM 100/100 kW, Wichita Falls TX. There are zero 102.3s in KS, and no country 102.3s elsewhere in OK (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** UZBEKISTAN. 15474.73 approx., Tue June 11 at 1449, JBA carrier direct, no doubt Tashkent as scheduled on ``15475`` with Furusato no Kaze. Not a trace of LRA36 which should be on 15475.98 RC USB, Tue at 1300-1500 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, June 12 at 0635, NO signal from R. Vanuatu direct. Ron Howard agrees: ``June 12, Radio Vanuatu off the air during random checking 0605-0910 UT. Ron, Asilomar State Beach, Calif. (near Monterey), CommRadio CR-1, external antenna: 100 ft. long wire`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED [and non]. 7290-7306 & 7428-7444 both approx., and 16-kHz wide, OTH radar clickery sounding the same in both spans, June 8 at 0035; hits AM signal on 7295, I think a broadcaster rather than hAM. Per EiBi, at 0030-0100 only, it`s BBC via VATICAN in Dari; not Violating Separation Of Church And State since UKQOGBANI is also a theocracy: just ask King Charles! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 28251.6, June 7 at 1501, propagation is very depressed but detect one JBA CW signal on 10m, the OPOB and OSOB. With such precise frequencies, one may make a tentative guess per the WGB list: ``28251.5 ED4YAK/B - Henares ESP IN80fk - #0/3 (29 May 2024) Note: ID + grid + 8" carr + 10" off 28251.5 KE5JXC/B - Pecan Island LA USA EL39sp - #0 (20 Feb 2024)`` Certainly more likely Louisiana than Spain (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
