At 0200 a 5+1 timesignal, final pip higher pitched, and French talk. At 0205 I simultry 13590 on Maryland remote, 13790 on UTwente, and yes, they do match. Publicity did state that Ifrikya would occupy 19 hpd. Tony Rogers says Holy Qur`an Radio is still carried at 18-23. And that ``Ouragla`` is assumed not on air at 00-18. I still see Ouargla misspelt, even with a Q! At 1600, 5+1 timesignal ending 10 seconds *early* by soon comparing to DCF77 on 77.5 kHz Mainflingen via same remote, as no RWM or WWVs audible on SW. Pips imply much greater precision! Then I fish around for some more OOB CNR1 jammers, not a thoro bandscan, but find this much stronger S7/S9, 15920. And 13530, both also in Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA [and non]. 9640 // 7335, May 12 at 2115, RIC VG into UTwente with music, 2120 Spanish drama about a folk tale, narration, birdchirps, other SFX, even Morse code twice at 2147, 2149. 2156 to a song in Chinese with piano. Continued past 2200, 2210 with no ID or any talk. But 7335 now has some CCI from an understation. Nothing heard about closing down SW service; and is not even reopening as a new or repeat hour. Maybe it`s always been a 2-hour service on most frequencies rather than one hour repeated; accounting for no news break at top of second hour. HFCC shows 9640 via Kashgar, occupied EAST TURKISTAN, 7335 via Shijiazhuang, China proper. Un saludo -- Pedro Sedano, Madrid, España, COORDINADOR GENERAL, ASOCIACIÓN ESPAÑOLA DE RADIOESCUCHA (AER)`` and attached a jpg stamped a few hours ago which I translate: ``To all followers of our page: We announce officially that RIC in Spanish has now fulfilled its historic mission and will no longer exist as an institution. But we continue transmitting under the name of Onda China on social networks and podcast services. In this age of confrontation, if you want to find a bridge between the Orient and the Hispanic world, we are here. A thousand thanks for your company during more than a decade. We love you!`` Surely it`s been a lot more than a decade. Just a few days ago I had logged CRI Spanish on 17880 in the 22 UT hour. Then I extract the entire SS schedule from HFCC A23: 06-08 17680 Kashi 21-23 7335 Shijiazhuang & 9640 Kashi 22-23 17880 Beijing 22-24 11855 Urumqi 23-01 9590 Kashi & 9800 Kashi 00-01 5990 Habana 01-03 9590 Kashi & 9710 Kashi Obviously, still going, so the Onda China item jumped the gun - or is it FAKE? Maybe broadcasts will prolong for years of music fill only, like the longtime fate of Portuguese? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA [and non]. A few days ago, May 12, we had news that CRI had stopped Spanish on SW, to continue only online as ``Onda China``. This has remained unverified, so on May 16 I resolve to check scheduled Spanish broadcasts. 17680, May 16 at 0626, JBA carrier, no more than that, like several others in the nightmiddle on 16mb. CRI only thing was sked, at 06-08 via Kashi/Kashgar, occupied EAST TURKISTAN. Next Spanish scheduled from 2100. Monitoring via UTwente: 7335 is on already in Chinese as scheduled at 2054. 9640 pops on at *2057 with music not // 7335, and at 2059, 9640 talk in neither Spanish nor Chinese, but they are joint from 2100, just more different music. I can`t listen for whole hour, but at 2157, they are both in Spanish, seems to be concluding a language lesson. 2200 sounds like same music heard an hour earlier, and now also // 17880, still at 2207. At 2221 now a Spanish feature about Chinese folktales, with birdchrip SFX etc., just like I heard May 12 at 2120: identical? or maybe another episode. At 2313 check May 16, 11855 // 9800 // 9590 with music to UTwente. My impression so far is that what Spanish remains on CRI/RIC is evergreen archives stuff, nothing about current events requiring a live staff and new produxion. ``Hoy, 20 de abril``, she says at 2321 May 16 on Chinese learning, for el dia de la lengua china``. How about the CRI website? Here`s a page linked as RADIO but it mentions everyplatform but SW: https://espanol.cri.cn/audioonline/index.shtml and everything on it is dated 2017! Here`s a very generic 2-hour program block showing as of 2017, Boletín Informativo starting each hour - NOT: https://espanol.cri.cn/audioonline/informaciones/1223/20170922/30430.html?spm=C46183.PbSsQMGvcUEK.E8hury4RDGY9.1 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA [and non]. 5990, May 17 at 0003, no signal into Georgia SDR; had been CRI Spanish relay via CUBA, which may have been canceled, but did not get around to rechecking later in hour. 24 hours later, May 18 at 0003, 5990 is on air with music but can`t be sure it`s CRI. Yes, I can: // 9560 & 9800 into UTwente not synched. 9710 & 9590 are sked 0100-0300. Both confirmed into UTwente but 9710 stronger, at 0158 concluding in Spanish about the Chinese language, 0200 usual ToH theme music, no news. That completes my chex of all previously scheduled CRI Spanish broadcasts on SW, which still exist but without any current event coverage (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CONGO. 6115, May 12 circa 0615, JBA carrier: too early for Japan except maybe in winter, but not quite too late for Congo, Brazzaville sunrise 0557. At 4 degrees south of Equator, varies only about 30 minutes in course of a year. Manuel Méndez, Spain, had reported May 7, as I quoted on WOR 2190: ``CONGO, 6115, Radio Congo, Brazzaville, very irregular, checked the last days early in the morning and in the afternoon and out of the air.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6100, May 12 at 0610, S5/S6 JBA signal, dead air? Must be RHC which ought to be a bigsig. So then I check 6100 x 2 = 12200, where there is S9+10 of dead air. Transmitter must be mistuned to radiate mostly on second harmonic. Something`s always wrong at RHC. No other frequencies found active now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5800, May 12 at 0614, lite pulse jamming against nothing, since months ago, WRMI briefly put R. Repúblca here three hours earlier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, May 12 at 1449, no RHC which is supposed to be on here thru midday but algo JBA on 15230 scheduled until 1500 per Aoki. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760, Sunday May 14 at 1503, RHC VG opening weekly Esperanto still citing wrong schedule: Sun 08 on 6100, 16 on 11760; and one more in the afternoon I always have trouble copying, but likely wrong too, :30 past some hour on some frequency. Aoki shows 2230 on 15730, which sounds about `right`. EiBi shows that but also: 2030 15140, 2300 5040. 15140 maybe too now at 15 but JBA. Previously at 0707+ I had searched all bands from 5 to 15 MHz and found zero RHC signals, not even 12200/6100. Something`s always wrong at RHC. BTW, searching entire Aoki on language Esp, and EiBi on EO, finds only other lingo station is CRI. WRTH 2023 shows five daily broadcasts on two frequencies each, to a variety of targets via variety of sites. Too bad only Commies are interested: Domaĝe nur komunistoj interesiĝas pri paroli Esperanton (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, May 15 at 0638, huge S9+10 dead air, got to be RHC way out of whack again, supposedly daytime only frequency. Now it`s the SSOB by far -- strongest signal on band, not even 15770 WRMI more than JBA carrier. No other RHCs found now on any band. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [and non]. 6000 // 9700, May 16 at 0127, RHC English only here, both somewhat undermodulated with 6165 long gone. 0243 recheck, 9700 now has CCI clearly underneath from Spanish, i.e. Romania as scheduled 0200-0257. How could RRI possibly know about RHC which refuses to register in HFCC? Someone should tell them. I don`t know the total span of RHC 9700, but varies to much later. Aoki does not list it at all, while EiBi shows 01-04 incorrect Spanish, 05-07 English, all irregular. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 12200, May 16 at 0643, RHC English, S8/9+10 and somewhat undermodulated; i.e. 2 x 6100 which is indeed still on and much weaker S7/S9; and no other RHCs found on any band. Same situation as on May 12 when both were heard but dead air. And April 18 with disturbed modulation. Not only is the harmonic escaping, but the fundamental is weaker indicating transmitter mistuned to peak on X2. Something`s always wrong at RHC! Also today I decide to give RHC another chance to provide an uptodate nominal schedule. The homepage defaults to Spanish, and under De Interés, a drop down to https://www.radiohc.cu/de-interes/frecuencias On the homepage there are no longer flag icons for languages, such as UK`s for English, never USA`s! let alone words. To get to English you have to click on the globe icon in upper right to get a drop-down of langs. Click and wait for slow loading. Eventually: https://www.radiohc.cu/en From there under Interesting another drop-down including Frequencies: https://www.radiohc.cu/en/de-interes/frecuencias same as you get by going via Spanish: also for the B20 season, starting Nov 17, 2020! I`ve yet to catch the Africa service before or after 23 UT on 11880, and suspect it has totally got lost. It used to be at 22 UT in B seasons, 23 in A seasons, opposite of DST shifting. How about programming, in English? https://www.radiohc.cu/en/de-interes/programacion It leads to exactly the same thing as this: How about programming, in Spanish: https://www.radiohc.cu/de-interes/programacion This is NOT a program sked - no names or times of specific pgms, but a transmission sked in English and the other languages. This one is undated, but we recognize some frequencies long out of use, if ever, so surely is very outdated. Like 17730, 6075, 9850, 17580. Somethings` VERY wrong at RHC. Things were a little better until the passing of frequency manager Arnaldo Coro Antich, who refused to participate in HFCC, but would send more or less intentional seasonal schedules to Wolfgang Büschel. I wonder who`s mismanaging them now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 12200, May 17 at 0642, RHC English again, S9 with some squeal // fundamental 6100 weaker S7/S9. Nothing audible on 6100 X 3 = 18300, which might be possible under optimum conditions, if not X 4 = 24400. No other fundamentals still on. 6100 and therefore 12200 are off already at next check 0651, before this hour can complete, frustrating listeners? Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** INTERNATIONAL INTERNET. Some months ago I publicized an archive access site for `Composers Datebook`, a daily 2-minute feature, but in the meantime it seems to have stopped while another one is now available: https://www.yourclassical.org/composers-datebook This is a lot more convenient than tuning in every day or weekday only at a certain time on a certain station such as KUCO, M-F at 11 & 21 UT - or at least to catch any that have been missed. `Engines of our Ingenuity` is another good one, on KUCO M-F at 20 UT, <4 minutes. Own website is lavishly illustrated with text and link to `latest` edition, such as https://uh.edu/engines/epi3288.htm I`m not clear how far back one may retrieve them. Slovakia International relay starts as scheduled on System H daily. But I can hardly believe my ears as it`s announced as the *Monday, January 30* broadcast! Among other things, about some WWII anniversary on January 27. This must mean that WRMI has got no newer files than 3.5 months ago from this station. Has no one else noticed? Something`s odd at Okeechobee. Another System H time is 0130 on 5800. However, RSI is also scheduled at more times on System F, a different server, which might not be so outdated. This had been on System K with the Jan 30 RSI program as heard at 0630 May 16. NHK does not appear anywhere on the WRMI skedgrid now partially updated as of May 12. It does now show 7730 as XMTR 2 at 44 degrees to ENA, 24 hours, much but not all of it duplicating 15770 at same azimuth for Europe. 0300 is next scheduled RSI relay supposedly on 7730, 7780 and 15770 --- but monitored on 7780 only, no date copied at outset but not the Mon Jan 30 show, rather Tue May 16 one with something about European summit in Iceland. 7730 & 15770 with SMTV instead. The transmitter grid atop now shows that, not the program grid abottom. At 0630 May 17, RSI again on 7730 and much weaker 15770, System H with same Jan 30 show as 24 hours earlier and no doubt also previous 105 days intervening, mentioning a Jan 27 anniversary of something in WWII (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 11669.994, Fri May 12 at 2211, token English from SNR in interview about the ballet, `Raymonda`, set in the Crimean War - the 19th century one. We are happy to say that our engineers have now constructed a provisional antenna with the same 44-degree beam. We have been testing on air for the past few days. However, we have also had some serious problems with the transmitter, unrelated to the hurricane. It is now operating at low power, so we can't reach Europe, but it is covering much of Eastern North America. Most of the programs that were on 7730 kHz were transferred to 15770 kHz after the hurricane.
