** ALBANIA [non]. 7730, Thu May 5 at 0600, R. Tirana in English via WRMI, good direct with feature on Eid+, last day of Ramadan. It seems that only on UT Weds this is replaced by RFPI in Russian. Now there is also a noise field surrounding, about 7710-7750 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ANDORRA [non]. 13730, May 7 at 2142, another R. Andorra music special is S6-S9 direct, scheduled 21-24 UT today only. Except it`s all-talk in French right now. Also had it earlier on 6180, VG into UTwente, both out of Moosbrunn, AUSTRIA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Saturday May 7 at 1435, LRA36 is on already with prélude before the publicized *1500 resumption after a month off. As usual I start with Brazilian KiwiSDRs: Pardinho has just a trace; both Brasílias get it much better, S3-S5 but breaking up: a receiver not a transmitter defect since there is no breakup when I switch to Campo, also S3-S5. Maybe an ID amid music stuck in at 1446. 1456 YL mentions Antártida, more music. 1458 ``buenas noches`` -- huh? 1501 formal canned sign-on with multilingual IDs including English briefly. 1502 reciting names of the new all-female staff of four, and the Antártida themesong. 1506 historical talk; 1510 ID; 1513 contact info including phone number, whatsapp. Lots of others are on these remotes. For a while I can only camp on someone mistuned to 15476.00 so the sound is slightly off. 1528 I switch to an Argentine which is getting it slightly better. Mentions menos 50 grados, not sure if current temp. 1537 LRA36 ID, song; 1542 contact info again; 1550 song; 1555 phone number again; 1609 contact info; 1617 song. The only possible mention of a real-time contact was, I think, from someone in Germany. 1621 ID and song, but dumps off air at 1623* abruptly and stays off at least thru 1633 when I quit. Was possibly going to repeat at 1800 but nothing at final recheck 1832. Now, are they going to resume Wednesdays as well? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, May 11 at 1528, NO signals from LRA36 into 8 KiwiSDRs, 4 in Argentina, 4 in Brasil. Manuel Méndez got a whatsapp notification yesterday that RNASG was going to broadcast this Wednesday at 1500 repeating the Saturday show. They started to, says Kari Kallio, Finland, but dumped off the air already at 1508*. That explains it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** AUSTRALIA. 10129-USB, May 7 at 0610 UT, surprised to hear some Oz-accented phone hams, 2 or 3 VK3s and a VK7, not positive of calls but maybe VK3OM, VK7OR? Only S3. I was under the impression that the ``30m`` ham band was strictly no-phone, but there is an exception: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WARC_bands#30-meter_band_plan ``Australia (VK, region 3) has a unique set of privileges on 30 meters which allows voice operation on a section of the band for advanced license holders. The digital segment is 10.130-10.150 MHz. The current band plan has telephony from 10.120–10.135 MHz, with CW only below 10.120. These are WIA [11] recommendations only as ACMA does not restrict Australian amateurs' modes within HF allocations beyond requiring less than 8 kHz occupied bandwidth per channel below 28 MHz`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** BRAZIL. 9667.174, May 7 at 0604, RVM S6/S8 with songs a bit overmodulated. I was wondering if its upward drift would ever attain 9667 -- sure has, and then some! Let`s see if it continue increasing. Sounds secular to me, but Carlos Gonçalves, Portugal, says songs are religious in Brazilian country style, when he heard it at a very different time and precise frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CAYMAN ISLANDS. 21285 USB, May 6 at 2025, ZF2RX with quick ``CQ73`` contacts, almost OSOB except for a ragchew on 21267.5. S9+10 on unscheduled frequency, while all the 6`s are OFF; 6000, 6060, 6100, 6165, and 5040 is in Spanish. Ivo Ivanov had already found English on 11670 & 13740 at 0507 May 4. Now 13740 is something else, but at 0609 I find RHC English on 11880, S9+20/30 overmodulated, distorted and somewhat breaking up. 11670 is supposed to be a Spanish-only frequency much earlier in the day, and 11880 only at 22-24 including English at 23. Something`s always wrong at RHC: but maybe they are experimenting with higher bands for summer nights, which does make more sense propagationally. The Other Side: Castroism's fear of 'the masses' prompts it to shorten lines in Havana --- So many hungry and angry people in one place, cursing the exasperating lack of food, is a dangerous time bomb for any autocracy. ROBERTO ÁLVAREZ QUIÑONES | Los Ángeles https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1651692701_39270.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13740 & 13680, May 6 at 2126, S9/+10 of dead air on both, 2127 modulation cuts on, slightly louder on 13740. Something`s always wrong at RHC. 13680, May 7 at 2144, RHC is S9/+20 but suptorted while 13740 is S9/+25 and clearer. SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6000, May 8 at 0553, RHC S9+10/20 of dead air in English; music in presumed English service remains on 6060, S9+10; 6100 is off; 6165 undermodulated music; 11670 S9+10 of dead air, presumably was English as recently, but now no 11880 nor any 13s; 11670 is off by 0602. And 5040 is in Spanish. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EGYPT. 9439.995, May 9 at 2150, R. Aoki shows it`s DW in Hausa via FRANCE. I really have no ``feel`` for recognizing Hausa, one of the major languages of Nigeria, no keywords like ``imnida``, a giveaway for Korean. I investigate via Google Translate: how would they say ``Hier ist die Deutsche Welle``? --- ``Ga Deutsche Welle``. How about ``This is the Voice of America``? --- ``Wannan ita ce Muryar Amurka``. The ADDX language schedules show Hausa still on SW via all these: AWR, VOA, TRT, BBC, IRIB, RFI, VON, DW, CRI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MALDIVES [non]. 11620, May 6 at 1501, V of Martyrs Korea, Maldives service with preacher in English, Bible story about some temple, S9/+10 direct. Wish we could get a fix on its secret site, but would be wasting my time trying TDOA for spurious ``most likelies``. Meanwhile, RBA on 11825, music for Myanmar is only S4/S6. 11620 stays in English a while longer, but by 1511 when I tune in via Coimbatore, India remote, it`s the YL in Dhivehi, S9/+20, only slightly stronger than I am getting her directly here, *way* off the target area. At 1524 it sounds like she utter the English term ``book banning``. 1529 switch to strumusic, and English sign-off just in time for `Laudeter Iesus Christus` from weaker Vatican Arabic at *1530 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MALDIVES [non]. 11620, May 8 at 1503, Voice of Martyrs Korea underway in English, via secret site, S9+10/20 into S India SDR; at 1506.7 switches to YL in Dhivehi who runs past 1529; finally 1529.4 bit of music and sign-off in English, off just in time for *1530 Vatican Arabic (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MALDIVES [non]. 11620, May 9 at 1528 via S India SDR, Voice of Martyrs Korea, S9/+20 but noisy, usual YL preaching in Dhivehi, contrary to the only legal religion there, Sunni Islam; does she aspire to martyrdom? Or is she safely in Korea South? 1529.7 switch to bit of music and s/off in English. Carrier seems to overlap a bit but to ear, transition to Vatican Arabic so smooth that one might be fooled into assuming both from same site (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. Some FM DX logs are included under USA, May 7 at 1719-1822 UT, q.v. ** OKLAHOMA. 93.9, May 9 at 1704 UT, strong mono signal of dead air encountered in DX bandscan mainly concentrating on 93.7 KNOR TX. Still dead at 1715, 1805 chex, presumably KIMY semi-local. They`ve done this before, nobody paying attention. What will all the Watongans do without their constant diet of gospel huxterism? Or, possibly a nearby neighbor`s RF feeder left on perhaps in a parked car. Certainly not one of mine. *Still* dead air at 2314 recheck. 101.3, May 9 at 1720 UT, two stations mixing, one with an Oklahoma Army National Guard PSA/ad? Wichita normally dominant here, but probably 100 kW KLAW, Lawton; also a 100 kW KMCO Wilburton; an LP in Edmond, translator in Vinita. Some other Okies mixed in with USA, q.v. May 10 at 1715 UT on caradio in garage, another FM check compared to yesterday noon: 93.9, KIMY Watonga has managed to modulate, as one of thegospelstation.com acknowledging support from the Pollard Theater, Guthrie, which I had assumed was a secular institution. Website has a coverage map centred in OK but with outliers in TX, AR, OH, TN. But renting the HD2 to gospel huxters helps pay their bills. You would never know there is such a connexion by inspecting the KUCOFM.com website. 88.3, at 1717 UT May 10, dead air in stereo from the KJIL 99.1 translator in Enid, K202BY, at least for a few minutes; modulating when next checked at 0226 UT May 11. 104.7, at 1718 UT May 10, dead air in mono with some CCI. Normal fringe dominator is KQSN Ponca City, 25/25 kW. 1830 recheck now driving, is on with slogan ``The Maul`` -- or Moll -- or Mall? They all sound alike, but in db as ``The Bull``. Why name station for a stupid animal? Could the DA have been a silent unID unfed nearby RF feeder instead? Would expect one of those to be $tereo (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 104.9, May 11 at 1702 UT, ``KQSN Ponca City, oklahomabull.com, 104-7 The Bull`` also offering bull rides, and what else? I`m bandscanning on the caradio as Hepburn tropo map for ``Ern No America`` predicts as of 1800, a Level 5 = strong tropoblob almost to Enid covering eastern OK, and large parts of the ArkLaTex --- but nothing special now, not even Tulsa enhancement. Similar on the F5LEN tropo map for the ``west coast``, but less extensive. 104.9 I also inspect, which bore The Metroplex S Asian station before: now fading out and in is ``Wild 104-9`` which per WTFDA db is merely KKWD Bethany OK, 6/6 kW, 100 m HAAT. Whatever became of newish 104.9, KEUC Ringwood, much closer but only 0.1/0.1 kW, 21 m HAAT with EWTN; is it on the air? I haven`t heard it even on the west side of Enid (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. 7375, May 6 after 0300, NO signal of RRI English to N America, as I follow my own advice to listen. That`s one of the disabled transmitters but still on the sked; however, VG on 9850 into UTwente, and likely into ENAm too, but I`m too busy to pay attention to content (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. Stephen Luce replies May 7 on the WOR iog to my report that RRI was missing from 7375 at 0300: ``Glenn, for Romania it would appear that one of the Tsiganeshti transmitters for Radio Romania International has now been off the air for over a year. I have not heard anything for the English broadcasts on 9550 at 0000, or on 7375 at 0300 during the A-22 season, which was the same situation during A-21. Meanwhile both 7420 and 9730 are present for Romanian at 0000. During B-21 RRI had both scheduled frequencies working for English at 0100, but was missing a transmitter for Romanian at the same time. There does not seen to be any sort of recent explanation for the missing transmitter on the RRI website. Has to be a severe problem to have gone on for so long. I too am getting good reception of RRI English at 0300 on 9850. Three hours earlier, 7375 is fair but improves during the hour as local sunset approaches. The same sound with the noise pitch descending slightly each time, but now they are 2 seconds long rather than one, and are bursting every few seconds instead of exactly 3:00, 4:00 or 5:00 minutes apart! Very annoying. They register S9+15 while BCQ is only 7. Then I also hear some very weak CW in background, seems like a repeating marker but uncopiable. 0418 I`ve switched to Maryland SDR and surprised to find WBCQ still on air instead of quitting at 0410 `After Midnight`. Now it`s a rock music show with a DJ. I watch the uteblaaps on the waterfall, very interesting display. They now make perfect squares, which I think means they are 2 seconds long by 2 kHz wide. Reading the calibration, as closely as I can tell, they are in three spots: 4782-4784, 4789-4791 = right on BCQ; and 4798-4800. Note these are asymmetrical. Each burst is a combination of any two of them, seemingly at random: left+right, left+mid, or mid+right. The BCQ signal runs past 0430, but off at 0455 check, while the blaaps are still running, now no longer square but elongated, i.e. almost 3 kHz wide, roughly: 4782-4785, 4788.5-4791.5, 4798-4801. 0532 recheck, now they are back to 2 x 2. No doubt all this is significant if one only knew what`s really going on such as Forex arbitrage info (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7490.1v), Sunday May 8 at 2229, WBCQ webcast of `Uncle Bill`s Melting Pot`, episode ending, and 2230 starting another! Normally it`s one full hour at 22-23. UB has COVID so may be affecting his broadcast scheduling. Yes: at 2259 outro as ``next week is St. Patrick`s Day``! Such a combo would make the semi-repeat Monday at 2300-2330 only, less abruptly chopped off --- if it still exist, as I previously heard him plug some other show during that slot, tho, of course, not so shown on the never up-to-date WBCQ program skeds. COVID also stymied his planned trip to Cuba this month. GWQ! Monday May 9 at 2300 also on WBCQ webcast, I catch opening of the secret semi-repeat which still exists, as Bill explains that he is replaying his very first two half-hour episodes from March 2017! Of course shows like this are evergreen (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 4790, UT Monday May 9 from 0212 past 0219, WBCQ Radio Angela with `Concert Hall` in an opera. I am checking again for uteblaap QRM, and there it is, via Maryland SDR: watching the waterfall as well as audibly, they now erupt exactly once a minute at about :00. Again there are three alternating spots, on the minus, even, and plus side of 4790: only one at a time rather than combining, and only the even ones are audible due to receiving bandwidth; and not all of these are very obvious vs the modulation and background noise level. Interleaving, there is another cycle at about :42 seconds past the minutes (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (5085), WTWW-2 webcast running in background around 0030/ 0200 UT Sunday May 8, and not a note of thorgan music, just ham stuff. What has become of Theatre Organ Under the Arch? DXMAPs have been showing some sporadic E MUF spikes into the FM band or even above it, but they are few and scattered in North America. Yet I decide to try for some Es DX, from my preferred site, displacing the cat on the table on the south-facing porch, as it`s puzzled what`s going on; only a meter above ground level, so should minimize groundwave QRM. With the DX-398 and whip antenna only which I can manipulate for polarity or some other nulling as needed. Starting at 1719 UT May 7. It`s immediately obvious that area tropo is up with 90.1 KHCC Radio Kansas overriding KUCO all morning and a number of BAD DTV signals; as well as various Tulsa and other peripheral OK signals on FM. If no real Mex DX, I shall at least become more familiar with nearer markets. Reference is the WTFDA FM Database. In Universal time order: 1719, on 92.1, ``2NEWS weather``, ``The Beat 92-1``, rock, so that is only KTBT Broken Arrow OK = Tulsa market, 27/27 kW, 200 m, TULSA'S PARTY STATION - The Beat. A few minutes later without really trying on 92.1: KFXI Marlow OK, ``Foxy 92``, 100/100 kW, 166m, Country. Not unusual 1725, on 94.1, ``The Rock Station, Z-94``: KZCD, LAWTON, ROCK Z-94, 35/35 kW, 178 m. Slogan ID again at 1750. 1725, on 94.1, CCI with AC 918 = Tulsa market: KXOJ-FM, Glenpool OK, 100/100 kW, 210.7 m, Christian. Glenpool was once QTH of a SW plan that never happened. 1726, on 94.1, CCI Mexican music, ``Que Buena 94.1`` briefly gains over the other two. Unfortunately turns out there are NO Mexicans by this name, nor spelt ``Ke``. Rather, it is: KLNO, FORT WORTH TX, Spanish, REGIONAL MEXICAN, 94.1 QUE BUENA, 98/98 kW, 485 m; and not the 3 kW ``Ke Buena`` in Oregon. At 1737 another peak of Mexmx vs the CCI, 1739 slogan ID again, never mind the calls. And at 1759. Some, but not all, The Metroplex stations are on the Cedar Hill antenna farm on SE side of Dallas, which is 431 km = 269 statutes from Enid. 1728, on 96.3, ad for Texas Health, Logan`s Roadhouse, Macy`s. LRH is unfamiliar to me, but there are lots of these restaurants including OKC, TX and other states. This one must be: KSCS, FORT WORTH TX, NEW COUNTRY 96.3 KSCS, 100/100 kW, 265 m 1738, on 94.3, ``Kool 94`` and ad for Cordell OK; RDS of music playing: SMASHING/PUMPKINS -- perfectly 8 letters each! This is: KXOO, 94.3, ELK CITY OK, CLASSIC HITS, KOOL 94.3 FM, 12/12 kW, 143 m [Enid`s KLGB-LP, remains kaput, was my closest local] 1742, on 94.9, Red Mountain Weight Loss ad, which exists in OKC and Fort Worth, but also KLTY ID, so this is: KLTY, ARLINGTON TX, CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN, 99/99 kW, 508 m 1746, on 92.3, sports talk with static RDS: ESPN_KC_ [sic, as in Kansas City?] but this is surely my semi-local: KKGQ, 92.3, NEWTON KS, SPORTS, ESPN WICHITA, 100/100 kW, 195.0 m 1747, on 92.5, Logan`s Roadhouse ad, barely sneaks thru huge KOMA OKC with antenna vertical only. Surely this from the PTA: KZPS, DALLAS TX, CLASSIC ROCK, LONE STAR 92.5, 99/99 kW, 508 m At 1756 I move to the Nissan caradio in garage, which may get somethings else, due to selectivity, sensitivity? But antenna vertical only and no RDS available. 1757, on 96.7, adjacent local 96.9, 972 area code, and ad for McLean Hearing Center, both of which lead to Dallas TX, so: KTCK-FM, FLOWER MOUND TX, SPORTS RADIO 1310 & 96.7, THE TICKET, 90/90 kW, 621 m 1809, on 95.3, sports talk, and not // KOKC 1520 so not its OKC translator which is normally audible, and since there are no sports on 95.3 in TX or OK: KWKN, WAKEENEY KS, TALK/SPORTS, 95.3 THE COWBOY, 100/100 kW, 158.0 m Wakeeney is on I-70 closer to Hays than Colby, 341 km = 212 mi away 1815, on 93.7, Spanish overrides KSPI Stillwater OK, ads for Kroger, Six Flags, Telemundo 69. 1819, 214 AC, oldnavy.com in Spanish; 1820 ``La Raza 93.7``, so it is: KNOR, KRUM TX, Spanish, REGIONAL MEXICAN, LA RAZA 93.7, 43/43 kW, 600.2 m Rock --- Krum is the home of DXer John Callarman, and KNOR was once the call of 1400 in NORman OK. 1816, on 93.7 vs KNOR briefly, English ad for Perryton: KEYE-FM, PERRYTON TX, ADULT CONTEMPORARY, 93.7 MY FM, 8.5/8.5 kW, 122.6 m --- Perryton is nowhere near The Metroplex, rather in the NE corner of the TX Panhandle, 262 km = 163 statute miles due west of Enid. 1822, on 95.3, KOKC translator // 1520 has regained control from KWKN, commercial for far-right extremist Newsmax TV net which also has a magazine and is pimping a ``World Band Radio`` worth $30 which ``may save your life``, apparently a wind-up, as a premium for subscribing. Yes, where would they be without their daily doses of the dislikes of Alex Jones, Brother Scare, Hal Turner or Bishop Bob Biermann? BTW, is 1520 back up to 50 kW yet? (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** U S A. More heavy tropo May 8 at 1510 UT, lots of BAD DTV signals on otherwise open RF channels: 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 21, 26, 30, 32, 36; RF 35, one decoding already is 4-1 KDFW-DT. Subchannels at 1530: 4-2, KDFW D2; 4-3 Heroes, Superman episode with George Reeves; 4-4 GetTV. At 1539+ a bunch more from The Metroplex are decoding, but no time to explore subs of each: RF 36, 39-1 KXTX-DT RF 32, 33-1 KDNT-DT RF 31, 55-1 MeTV RF 30, 29-1 KMPX-HD RF 14, 13-1 KERA-HD Checking rabbitears.info later: RF 32 is supposed to be KDAF, not KDNT. But that`s what I copied. Font on the PSIP IDs is hard to read accurately on a small screen. RF 31 is KAZD, licensed to Lake Dallas. RF 30 KMPX is licensed to Decatur. DX QRM made RF 33 OKC a BAD signal. Tropo maps show big blob around The Metroplex extending to, or almost to, Enid, as they did yesterday when I was getting all that FM DX midday. FM band not checked on this opening (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** U S A. At wakeup 1343 UT May 9, turn on bedside YB-400 normally not used for DXing but for RF feeder reception or localish listening: on 90.1 for KUCO OKC, but instead `Democracy Now` in progress --- which means it is not either the usual #2 signal on 90.1, KHCC Hutchinson, Radio Kansas. Maybe KERA Dallas if tropo from there up again? No, D.N. website shows the nearest 90.1 is KKFI Kansas City MO! and the time fits, 8-9 am CT. WTFDA says it`s only 5.31/5.31 kW, only 95 m HAAT, community ``Free Range Radio``. Site is on the MO side, not KS per radio-locator map, but which also says it`s 100 KW, 129m! -- more likely. FCC says licensed for 100, but CP for 5.31: strange. Tropo maps do show enhanced from here to Kansas City. {explained below} BTW, `Democracy Now` is on 1546 `stations` worldwide, but not on a single Oklahoman other than obscure cable channels, natch, since there is no democracy in OK! Plenty of outlets e.g. in neighboring NM, TX. Next I`m on the DX-398, but still abed not ready for porch or car DXing. 89.5, May 9 at 1357 UT, CSN Radio non-ID. Normally vacant channel here but there are two Okies: KJCC, Carnegie, 23.5/23.5 kW; and translator K208CG in OKC; but there are also two translators in KS: K208FE in Topeka, and K208EK in closer Parsons. They all relay something from Idaho. {KAWZ 89.7 Twin Falls, as Doug Smith reminds us.} 91.9, May 9 at 1358 UT, ``SonLife Broadcasting Network``, the nearby KBDD Winfield KS, boosted a bit as normally obscured by 91.7 KOSU + HD. 91.7, May 9 at 1358 UT, KOSU is getting CCI which takes some doing; at 1400 sounds like KVOM? And EWTN network. DB gets no hits on 91.7 for EWTN, but ETERNAL as slogan gets one: KSIF, Wellington TX, 2.0/2.0 kW, 124.0 m. Wellington is just next to SW corner of OK between Shamrock and Childress, so is feasible. Looking thru complete USA list of 91.7s, nothing even fuzzily similar to KVOM. 93.5, May 9 at 1359 UT, ``Power 93.5`` traffic report concerning I-135 and I-235, i.e. KDGS Andover KS, tornado-hit Wichita suburb, 15/15 kW, 114 m. WTFDA shows only ``Power 93`` without the point 5. Also mentioned KNSS, I guess a sibling station on 1330. 94.3, May 9 at 1404 UT, RDS: BOTT / RADIO / NETWORK, i.e. KCVW Kingman KS, 100/100 kW, 253 m = the usual fringe with KLGB gone 87.75, May 9 at 1406, somesignal here with JBA talk; normally no Franken FMs audible, KBSD Ensign/Dodge City KS still on RF channel 6 is non-Analog. Could also be receiver overload? No Frankens on ``87.7`` listed within likely range closer than Memphis or Denver. On ``87.9`` there is KBFW-LD Arlington TX, 300 watts of Spanish. Gotta break for breakfast. At 1456 I check for DTVDX. Almost every open channel has a BAD signal on it, and some of the `local` OKC channels such as 33 have also been baddened by DX QRM. RF 12, May 9 at 1456 UT is the only one decoding, 33-1 KSCW-DT Wichita, but it`s carrying KWCH virtual 12 news before and after 1500, maybe playback from sibling station, getting it back on true channel 12 while KWCH is really on RF 19. BTW, I had a bad signal there too; normally no signal detected, blocked by KAUT OKC in ATSC 3.0, leading the way! RF 12 finally fades to Bad by 1520. From 1704 UT May 9, missing any ToH IDs, to the caradio for FM DX: 93.7, May 9 at 1704 UT, Mexican music totally overriding KSPI Stillwater, much like May 7 during the ``noon`` hour. ``Don Cheto al Aire``, a bit more music, then from 1707, all frenetic chat between Cheto and YL sidekick/s. It`s so colloquial that I can hardly follow it, but general topic seems about relationships. $tereo, and music continues playing JBA in background. References to CDMX and being nervous about Popocatepetl make me wonder if it originate in the Aztec Capital. But at 1727 surgery ad with a 661 AC phone number, which is Bakersfield = Kern and parts of adjacent California counties. 1731, plug Estrella TV on digital platforms --- never mind plain old TV, like KMPX Decatur TX, RF 30, ``29``; and ``La Raza`` liner, so no doubt it is again KNOR Krum TX in The Metroplex, market #5. 1734 my lunch break until 1805 again missing ToH IDs, but still Mexmx on 93.7, weakening. Uplooking later, KNOR is in fact owned by Estrella TV, a third-rate network if that. Found this on website, not accounting for the time I`m hearing Don Cheto: https://estrellatv.com/donchetoalaire ``Don Cheto Al Aire 5:00am - 11:00am El programa de radio más exitoso entre la comunidad hispana de Estados Unidos. No se lo pierdan de Lunes a Viernes de 5 a 11 de la mañana.`` As for ``La Raza`` branding, one cannot imagine a white or black-ethnic station calling itself ``The Race``, but it`s perfectly proudly OK for Latin@s?! who of course are not a race at all but ethnicity. Most FM channels are piles of CCI, but one more of interest, as it tops occasionally: 104.9, May 9 at 1722 UT, South Asian music is outstanding, alternating with other station(s) at 1729; 1730 divorce and dental ads in English ``for the South Asian community of north Texas``. Therefore from WTFDA DB: KZMP-FM 104.9 PILOT POINT TX HD ETHNIC FUNASIA, 35/35 kW, 535 m, Pilot Point, Dallas, Fort Worth WWW.FUNASIA.COM Guess what: that domain is for sale. Obviously related to 1540 AM KZMP University Park which is now Spanish/ranchera. Pilot Point is a little town about halfway between Denton and Gainesville, well north of The Metroplex (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Doug Smith replies re contradictory info about KKFI 90.1 KC/MO which I DXed at some 300 miles/500 km: ``The 5.31 kW KKFI facility is a backup transmitter. If you look in the FCC LMS records, the "service" is "FS" instead of "FM". There's an old permit (superseded) for a different site but both that permit and the actual site in use are east of I-435, well inside Missouri`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. RF 12, May 10 at 1450 UT, tropo up again much like yesterday morning, lots of BAD VHF & UHF DTV signals, but only this decodes, KSCW 33-1 Wichita but carrying Eyewitness News from KWCH ``12`` on 12, which itself is really on RF 19 (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 11835, May 6 at 0622, R. Retuning ASAP to next frequency, 11835 = 3 X 3945, it`s already on by 0559.3, sounds like starting in English but more likely Bislama (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 10010 USB, May 7 at 0607, weak 2-way seems in English. Could this be legit aero? A bit close to WWV (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 12165-12225, May 9 at 0602, approx. range of a noise peak, perhaps one of those ``experimental`` arbitrage transmitters (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. May 6 at 1504, I`m scanning the 13 m band for any sign of broadcast carrier activity -- and I do find JBA carriers here: 21695 could be a real station, but nothing scheduled now; 21743; then a bunch at 21599, 21551, 21503, 21435, 21407, 21359, 21311. Before I get to the end of this sequence I`ve realized that they are at exact 48-kHz intervals, including 21743 altho missed 21647. Probably some local device, but what could be doing this? They are weaker than the only real SWBC, 21525 WRMI.
