That leaves 9900 open for the China/Taiwan radio war including Doppler jiggling signal. 9909.803 does not go off at 2245 but horrible noisy carrier stays on and by 2259 there is *still* CCCCCCI also on 9910, this time China vs RFA Tibetan via Kuwait at 23-24 only. 2300 timesignal and East Is Red // on 9900 & 9910. But its own defectivity from ARMENIA? is the main obstacle. Even worse into UTwente, S9+30 and same splatter range; off at 2000* after ID and almost starting another hour. We`re still awaiting news of more transmissions funded by Shortwaves for Freedom (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** RUSSIA [non]. 9370, March 23 at 1945, R. WORLD OF RADIO 2130 monitoring: since the UT Friday 0130 broadcast has been canceled by WRMI, first airing is now 0330 UT Friday on 5985, which just signs on at that bottom-of-the-hour time; in the run-up announced repeatedly as ``top-of-the-hour`` by the clueless BBB. Unfortunately aimed south, March 18 as usual VP here. Best signal should be grabbed in Colombia but no active Kiwis there now, let alone Bonaire. Boca Ratón FL is too far for groundwave, too close for skywave. Other Caribbean, S American sites are not getting listenable signal if any, nor even Maryland. Best results are directly off the back at a reasonable distance to Athens GA S8-S9 with fading but less noise than stronger Knoxville TN S9+10. They all need USB or AM-narrow to avoid Cuban jamming bleed from 5980. 9955, now with DST, WOR is to resume on WRMI at 1430 Friday --- but it`s off the air! Confirmed anyway on webcast. Still off at 1809 check, unknown when resumed but going circa 2300. Also confirmed UT Monday March 21 from 0301:28 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160 minus 56 Hz = 6159.944, into Missouri SDR, but heavy ACI from 6165 RHC so need LSB or SAL mode to minimize it. If RHC be back on 6165 to stay for the next octomonth, everything on 6160 is in for a bad spell: at least toward the east, RHC also suffers from WBCQ ACI. Operating two nearby stations 5 kHz apart is asking for trouble and would be avoided by competent frequency management: but Cuba refuses to participate in HFCC, and once on a frequency, WBCQ heavily resists any moving. Temp today was 90F, now just heard some thunder with lightning [yes, Blitzortung shows storm line right over FL]. ``Radio strikes back`` against the ills of the age. Some dickhead has been jamming 7490 during Hal Turner, says has had jamming before, which is close to being treason, punishable by death. We are now in Cold War 2.0. SW stations are becoming more important. Could Classic BCQ broadcast to Russia, Ukraine? Not really with antennas for N America. SuperStition could do it but not sure whether WLC is going to. Needs to upgrade other transmitters to 100 kW, and has started a gofundme. Still charges same rates as when signed on in 1998 since most programmers could not afford the real cost. Will add more programs before/after the Radio Angela 2-hour block on 4790. See website for schedule of that [NO, it is still not on there, as I check: http://wbcq.com/schedule/index.php?fn=sked&freq=4790 which still shows nothing but Dead Brother Scare!] Bill Tilford also tells him that, so Allan calls for Larry Will, webmaster, to get with it. Apparently Allan doesn`t inspect his own website very often. Allan says he is ``always upfront, doesn`t hold anything back``, e.g. from the winter cold in Maine he ``almost died`` which is why they operate remotely from Deland of Fla, depending on their great staff back in Maine. A&A hold a daily lunch-hour Soviet on the porch to discuss station and marital issues, recommended. `BCQ should be around for years; it`s totally owned by A&A, debt- and mortgage-free. Their cellphones are on 24/7 like the broadcast business in case there is an emergency. 0043 finally datestamp as 18th of March YOOLF 2022, from Studio 9 where it`s 78 degrees, humidity 70% and rising, and 0044 introduces `Angela`s Angle`, for her own commentary/rant -- but she is not prepared to render it. They had a great St Patrick`s party last night at a neighbor`s, best corned beef he had ever had, breaking his mostly vegetarian diet. Fishing around for reading glasses which both of them need; to refer to a Radio World article by Rick Wagner about a Denon TU68? radio from the 90s which had CQUAM AM stereo; and how great AM sound can be if bandwidth allowed up to 9 kHz rather than 3. That might give AM radio a new lease on life. At BCQ they push the AM bandwidth on SW as far as they can with the 5 kHz limit. 0054 to email. Goal is to raise $10 million in order to buy and preserve operational some other SW facilities [not including WHRI, I assume]. Ultimately maybe an endowment, privately owned, NOT governmental. I am hearing this only in USB mode where there is also a reduced carrier. I never hear it sliding, but it keeps jumping downward; shortly 9345.76, 9345.44 hardly giving me a chance to precision it. As I keep tuning downward, obviously spur out of 9330 matching WBCQ SuperStition with World`s Last Chance at S9+30/40 --- no more weak signal now! So at 0636 I hunt for a matching spur on the ~16+ kHz minus side of 9330, but do not find any around 9314; however it`s clear that there is Super-splash down to 9310 or so. By 0638 the upspur is about 9345.79. At 0642 there are traces of algo around 9313 in LSB without carrier but evasive, can never lock onto it. So the SS needs a bit of work to get rid of this stuff (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15770, March 18 at 1902, quick check of WRMI via UTwente: poor but in English, presumably still back with R. Prague after Wednesday-only test of RFPI in Russian. But that`s now on the WRMI skedgrid as Wed only rather than daily at 1900-1930 on 15770 within the otherwise mostly-9955, blue-green System B sked! RFPI already has several 1-hour blox, presumably French, but the only 15 minute one, UT Fri 0145-0200 blowing away the first airing of WOR, is now suffixed UA - meaning UkrAine? Altho we thought it was in Rusky Yazik (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) see also FRANCE [non] ** U S A. On that `CBS4` Miami interview about WRMI, Jeff White said they have fourteen 100-kW transmitters. However, WRTH 2022 shows 12 x 100 kW, and 1 x 50 kW. There are never 14 transmitters on the air at once per the skedgrid; but all are running for at least a few hours. In past one or two have been totally `standby`. The most active hours are 00-02 with twelve frequencies running; all other hours have eleven or less. Another oddity at Okeechobee: 9395 & 9455 are allegedly both 100 kW and same azimuth 355. But comparing them on remotes such as Maryland at 0130 March 18, 9395 is *much* stronger, S9+20 while 9455 is JBA S6-S7 and barely makes a trace on the waterfall (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15770, Sat Mar 19 at 1902, WRMI with English discussion about Ukraine, presumably R. Prague International as scheduled. However, refers to ``now`` being in sixth day of invasion, so recorded more than a biweek ago! Same also heard on only webcast from WRMI, which is of System B, ordinarily what is fed into 9955 SW, except this 19-20 hour of 15770. WORLD OF RADIO has just been added to the schedule Saturdays at 1930 on 15770, so I`m expecting it also to be webcast --- but it`s not, rather fill music. Meanwhile what about 9955? It does remain on air, with TOMBS before and after 1930 into Maryland SDR. What then at 2000? English gospel huxter on 15770, which would be Yeshua Prayer & Praise now from System H; TOMBS on 9955, and something in Arabic on webcast. System B grid shows this hour as internet only, and with blank spaces (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [non]. 9455, March 22 at 1504, weak fluttery signal must not be WRMI, since it`s much stronger on nearby 9395 with same nominal parameters. Otherwise on 9455 at this hour: CRI Chinese via Kunming. Not unusual for 9455 WRMI-5 to be partially missing from 24/7 on the grid (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. From disgraced FB: ``WRMI Radio Miami International Yesterday at 4:30 PM · [March 22 at 2030 UT?] Just a quick note to advise our listeners that the antenna repair on 7730 kHz has been completed, and this frequency will transmit as scheduled beginning immediately. Please note that 7730 beamed to Mexico, Western North America and the South Pacific will change to 7780 kHz this coming Sunday March 27 for the A22 season, and our frequency of 7780 beamed to Eastern North America and Europe will switch to 7730 kHz.`` [also via Alan Roe] Good, but 7730 was *not* on the air immediately. It had been scheduled starting at 0000 UT. I left a receiver on that frequency and it was vacant all evening UT March 23. However, when I quit at 0646 there was a JBA carrier incomparable to booming 7570; probably ChiCom jammer as 7730 is also a 24-hour Sound of Hope frequency. Maybe 7730 WRMI will be back on by 0000 UT Thursday March 24 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) {NOT} ** U S A. 15770, March 23 at 1917, missed checking whether RFPI in Russian be again on WRMI at 1900 Wednesday, but mostly music until 1930 VOA News, and 1935 `Flashpoint Ukraine`. First via UTwente, only S6-S7 and with RTTY QRM on the low side, evitable by USB-only tuning. At Maryland SDR, no sign of the RTTY and VG S9+10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, March 18 at 0614, WTWW-2 is S9+20/30 of dead air, or a trace of modulation, and some hum; and the JBA parasitic spur carriers circa 5072 & 5098. Ted offdozed? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9940, March 22 at 1922, classic rock at S9+10/20 from WTWW-2, more active lately on this frequency. No others checked are on air now: 9475, 5830, 5085 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9939.991, March 22 at 2248, S9+15 of rock into UTwente as WTWW-2? Is again active up here. ``9940`` registered for 40 degree antenna, good for Europe unlike the others except even rarer 15810. No 9940 at 2334 check March 23 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 4840, March 18 at 0617, S9+30 of dead air from WWCR, competing for the Tennessee DA Sweepstakes with 5085 WTWW. But the other three WWCRs are nominally modulating, 3215, 5890, 5935. No one paying attention at 1300 WWCR Ave, yay! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (12160), March 19 at 1700-1729 UT Sat, WWCR-2 webcast of `Talking Machine Show` as time-shifted an hour earlier. Mostly singing as always but at 1708 axual talk, ancient recording of an auxion (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15610, March 22 at 1914, no signal from 250 kW WEWN which is supposed to start English at 1900; yet pennywhistle 15555 USB WJHR is audible from nearby. What would Mother Angelica say? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 333 MCW kHz, March 18 at 0624 UT, JBA beacon, second letter V, and the first seems like 6. At DXinfocentre no fits and nothing at all on 334, but could really be 335 as I am tuning USB: BV in BatesVille AR would be a close fit, 25 watts heard before; also CV, CloVis NM, 25W (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 15450, March 22 from 1657 past 1730, no signal into UTwente or Kuwait SDR. An unnamed broadcast in Persian was supposed to test at this time and date, per Ivo Ivanov on March 3: ``New clandestine broadcast is registered in B-21 HFCC Database via TDF Issoudun 1700-1730 on 15450 ISS 150 kW / 088 deg to WeAs Persian eff. from March 22 via WRMI Broker --- Публикувано от Observer в 4:45 PM`` Despite RMI in HFCC, Jeff White told me it`s not WRMI-brokered. Then Ivo said the date for it was March 20, but I did not see that in time, nor did anyone? check for it. That`s also in HFCC dated 12 Mar as applying to 20 March only, not with RMI: ``15450 1700 1730 40 ISS 150 88 0 217 1234567 200322 200322 D 17400 Fas F TDF TDF 11203`` Wolfgang Buschel replies: ``What? but in A-22 RMI requested via TDF FMO? 15450 1600 1630 40 ISS 150 88 0 217 1234567 270322 291022 Farsi F RMI TDF 4389 Ir`` Current RMI skedgrid as of March 22 dated March 13 does not show anything on 15450 or for Iran via TDF. Note: March 22 is significant in Iran, date DST starts associated with equinox = Nowruz = New Year 1401 of March 20, UT +4.5 instead of +3.5, accounting for 1700/1600 UT change of so far unconfirmed, imaginary, unattributed broadcast (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 21280 USB, March 31 at 1935-1947+, TA ham working pileups of N American east-coasters. They NEVER utter the DX call, only their own until they finally if ever break thru the pileup. His signal relatively weak, and doesn`t give his call often either. Once I thought I heard OH0##, which would be the off-Finnish radio country of Åland Island, but soon checking DX clusters can`t find any reports of that or anything similar on this frequency. What frustration. Excuse me, but I would not consider a ham contact complete unless each station utter at least once, both calls. Is that too much to ask? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
