No, it`s Pashto, VOA Deewa Radio via THAILAND at 13-17; plus 17-19 via Germany (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-CUSB, Sat Apr 24 at 1407 I check my own outside antenna for any trace of LRA36, but none as expected for 300 watts, which is however still a `good DX catch` a few thousand km away at Brasil remotes. I do bring Pardinho up at 1459, and there it is, S5-S7 with a chronology for Apr 24, evidently `this day in history`. Lots of IDs ensue, bits of music, 1519 multi-contact info, 1520 ``hasta la próxima``, Antártida theme song. But restarting at 1523, ``a partir de este momento``, informal ID as ``Radio San Gabriel`` without the Arcángel title; telling us in Spanish, German, English; and Korean? --- thought it ended with ``imnida`` --- that the broadcast is in: Spanish! and shortly same announcement repeated. 1545 rock song in English; still past 1600 but off at next check 1657. On the remote`s waterfall, when tuned to reference frequency 15475.98-USB, the signal audio axually covers from 15476.20 to 15478.75 with sharp edges. I suspect interest in LRA36 has lagged as no one else reports it today and so I don`t bother to remind everyone of the regular Wed & Sat-only appearances (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, April 28 at 1518 tune-in via Pardinho, Brasil, SDR, LRA36 is on this Wednesday, S5-S7. In USB-narrow mode, audio bandwidth on waterfall is slightly less than full USB: 15476.2 to 15478.4. Canned ID at 1519, ``LRA36, Radio Nacional Arcángel San Gabriel``, music; 1522 email address; 1523 ``todo por hoy; hasta la próxima`` in faux ``sign-off``, Antártida song to 1527. Pause. Restart music, 1534.5 ``sign-on``, notice in Spanish, German, English and fourth language that this is in Spanish. I keep listening closely to #4, and believe there is a ``govorit`` in it, therefore Russian. The ``imnida`` at the end of it really merely ``Argentina``. Korean is after all not a RAE language; but neither was Russian; anyhow it`s relevant to Antarctic basing. But so is Korea South. There are/were a lot more bases than you might think, including by countries not really associated with Anta., including two from South Korea: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Research_stations_in_Antarctica A further wikilink: ``Esperanza Base (Spanish: Base Esperanza, 'Hope Base') is a permanent, all-year-round Argentine research station in Hope Bay, Trinity Peninsula (in Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula). It is one of only two civilian settlements in Antarctica (the other being the Chilean Villa Las Estrellas). The base's motto is Permanencia, un acto de sacrificio ('Permanence, an act of sacrifice').`` Civilian, really? Then why are all the LRA36 staff bearing military ranx? as specified with a QSL I quote on WOR 2083. Of course, obsessed with the Malvinas war. And I have never heard that motto uttered on air. Second program -- or repeat of the first one? continues: 1545 song; 1600 sharp, ID as ``Nacional Antártida Argentina, en todo el país, la radio pública`` --- this slogan meant to imply that Argentina straddle two continents; music. 1605 maybe this-day-in-history about Malvinas war, Real Madrid; but then current headlines about Burkina Faso, pandemia en India, Oscars, and more talk. 1622 song, 1625 ID, more song until chopped off the air at 1628.6* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 346-MCW kHz, April 25 at 0533 UT, ND beacon dash and YXL, which is 500 watts from Sioux Lookout, Ontario. 328-MCW kHz, April 25 at 0537 UT, NDB dash and YTL, which is 1000 watts from Big Trout Lake, Ontario. Still at 0136 April 24. 9650 had been in use both morning and evening, so morning too on 9640? Yes, April 24 at 1334 check, S9 but undermodulated. This is good news for Guinea, which could run 18 hours a day on its only SW frequency 9650, tho has been quite irregular, as Carlos Gonçalves, Portugal also notes. Let`s look at what else RHC confront on each per Aoki, without great detail: 9650: Guinea, Taiwan, Sa`udi Arabia, Korea North 9640: CRI Spanish via East Turkistan until 2300; Korea South from 1530, Iran from 1550; should RHC be on that late but was only 11-15 & 21-05 on 9650; so 9640 is mostly clearer. I`m fairly sure RHC did not QSY because of the local unID device I have producing weak carriers every 50 kHz between ~7 and 15 MHz; with BFO they are just a smidgin less than 50.000 kHz apart, offset pitch ascending as I step up MHz by MHz; ideas? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11850, April 24 at 0145, RHC Spanish is JBM and suptorted, with much weaker parasites on 11840 & 11860; the latter also with irregular beeps at a slow rate out of conflicting residual Cuban jammer. Same transmitter a few days ago tried 9640 instead of 9650. As I researched then, 9640 would have been conflict-free for the morning 1100-1500 transmission. So is 9710 better? NO, the big 3 references agree that CNR1 from SZG sites runs 1100-1805; also Iran in Urdu at 1250-1420 due east from Sirjan. 9710 might also show up for 21-05 tardemisión; clashes then would be CNR1 until 2330, and CRI in Portuguese & Spanish via EAST TURKISTAN, land of imperialist ChiCom genocide against Uyghurs and other Moslems, at 0000-0300. 9640 would have clashed with China at 21-23. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Anyhow, this revacates 9650 for GUINEA 06-24, if and when they can get it on. 9710, later at 2219, RHC is indeed also afternooning instead of 9650, but no China QRM audible. Will it last more than one day? Should be problematic after 0000 with China to Latin America (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9710, April 28 at at 0104, RHC Spanish still here, S9+20 totally blotting any sign of CRI Spanish via East Turkistan, to Latin America, where there could be more of a clash. No remotes very close to target, and no signal to Kuwait, India, Iceland, Brasil; and RSA is blocked. But UTwente is getting a trace, despite being way too close to France in skip zone. And it`s off-frequency as originally noted here: 17544.95971 at first and by 1537 Synch reading 17544.96728. No ID or even audio of course, but if anything is there, this should be it. I`m on the Knoxville SDR at first, but that`s too close to all the storms over Georgia and Florida. I keep trying other SDRs for better S/N, but not much, in MD, MO, NY. Even in Ottawa and Fort Collins it`s too noisy. I suspect 90mb is not the best choice in spring storm season. I didn`t try the earlier broadcasts in the afternoon today as they would surely be too daytimish. Anyhow these imply coming from eastern US as are most SW pirates. If only I could hit upon a Kiwi at local range, but then I shouldn`t say so. I stick with it mostly via NA5B in Maryland for a semi-hour in order to qualify for a QSL, my copied details as vague as they may be, but surely recognizable: 0159, a 3-note ``IS`` repeating 0200, Hola, hola, hola; mix of BBC? and other SW IDs; just music; 0208, yells mixed with music 0211, calling out to something/one? 0213, laughing & yelling 0215, Hello, hello, and a song 0217, cut to funny voice talking, only 0220, loop about QSL? mixing mx; briefly clear YL voice with gmail QSL address but I can`t copy it 0221, VOPV theme song as heard during the 2021 SWL Fest broadcasts; yelps & yells, VOPV ID, feedback loop, lots of weird vocal noises 0225, segué to trumpet tune; then ``turn it down!`` 2 or 3 times; 0226, distorted voice, can`t understand much, ``all f--ed up`` 0227, guitar & C&W tune in English So far I have heard no mention of one ``Glenn Hauser`` who is allegedly invoked in many of these episodes, whew. At 0212 I had made a quick check of 3185 on my own radio, but JBA. 0230, after putting up with awful noisy reception, I bail, hoping to hear it better somewhen other; and go to WCLV webcast for the last half of `Weekend Radio`, in pristine hifi stereo, during ``I can`t wait to see you with clothes on``, by Orson Bean... I`ll get the first half after 0300 on KUCO. O o, a quick check at 0259 break, now VOPV about worshiping in the direxion of Enid, Oklahoma. OK, since SNL is a rerun and I`ve now heard the second and first halves of Weekend Radio, at 0330 I`m back on 3185-USB, still stormnoisy via VE3HOA Ottawa remote; in a wild song. Sic transit. YL offers eQSL to mysterypirateradio@gmail.com Each VPV episode is introduced by year in real Spanish, starting now with 2014, and theme. A bit of William Tell Overture; 2306 Star Wars theme; something about working for free. Intro #15. From Fiesta Motor Inn, no Tom Kneitel this year; kneel down toward Enid, Oklahoma. Faux-female voice, internet killing radio. 2311, something about Enid, I was there. 2312 eQSL address again with music background; Spanish VPV ID, #16, theme. Jack Nicholson says Franco has been dead for over 25 years. Pancho mentions Chihuahua dog or Yogi Berra. Mentions of Austin TX, Berkeley CA. 2317, make America great again so must be from Trump era now; fake Glenn Hauser speaks; I love to watch. 2321, Spanish ID and #17; English ID from Fiesta Motor Inn, pink & purple room. Trump wants to deport, can gh help? This gh stammers a lot unlike the real one. Something about wieners. 2330, VPV theme extended. 2332 Spanish ID, #18. At Doubletree Inn instead, about Trump & wall; Melania`s dowry. AIR interview with Trump voice culled from real clips, mostly unresponsive. 2341, something about female sexuality; wall around Ethiopia? 2345, standard disclaimer, theme, #19, BBC ID and timesignal; a skit but details unnoted for a while. Unusually low-key, kind of drags. 2357, gh running for president?, uh, uh, uh UT April 26: 0000 interview with ghost of Reagan as if about Trump 0005, CQDX in code, and Arnie Coro DXers Unlimited real recorded opening when he was in good voice; about something on 6m in S Africa; then clip of gh really opening WOR #2000 milestone on Sept. 19; interview with Greta; gh will save the world. 0013, outro VPV in Spanish for dos mil catorce, dos-cero-uno-cuatro; MPR QSL address. 0015 VPV for 20-21, retard alert. Something about COVID; YL visits gh in Enid; both Pancho & gh have ED, o yeah? We are now in this year`s episode which I already reported about when it originally aired, also on WBCQ. If a station wanted to sandwich barnyard sounds between the WOR intro and outro and broadcast that at a date/time/freq you'd publicized, there'd be nothing you could do. Except never again send that station program audio. That was the situation with an MPR-VPV relay last Saturday. The station operator thought it would be "fun" to mix his own content with the VPV program -- episodes 1994-2003 -- that he agreed to relay. Pirating a pirate station, I guess. It would have been funny, except some of those early VPV episodes haven't been heard in their entirety on the airwaves in at least a decade, and many people looked forward to hearing them. The intact episodes were relayed yesterday by a different operator on 6925U, but I received only one report. I hope more than this one listener heard the program. There's an operator located West of the Rockies who may relay the three programs next weekend. That would be something different for DXers because most free radio stations are located in the Eastern US. These say it`s Nowhere Radio, on air as early as 2210 April 26: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,80828.0.html I also logged it 23 hours ago, last night on same frequency within margin of error (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 3185-USB, April 26 at 0311, pirate music S8-S9 via KB0FX SDR in MO; 0315 vocal music looping, off at 0322*. NO reports in HFU, but maybe same pirate as the other night with unauthorized Pancho Villa. Tnx to Brother Scare and WWRB for pioneering this OOB non-tropical SWBC channel (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 7470-AM, April 27 at 0212, the unmistakable urgent sound of Josiah, his anti-Christ pirate Station YHWH back on the air! But unreadable, too weak S9-S5, and too undermodulated. Had been unheard since last August? But was first reported back here at 0334 April 25: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,80722.0.html I looked for him next night = last night, April 26 after 0330 but no show then. Following my notice to the WOR iogroup tonight, Walt Salmaniw replies: ``I checked several times between 04 and 05 last night, with no luck. Tonight, there he is at 0313 with the usual very low modulation/tinny audio. Fair/good level into Victoria. Unfortunately, 41 m is marred here by some local possible BPL interference between 7375 and 8065 kHz. Poor into Masset, but another hour until LSS there. Walt`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 91.7, April 22 at 0446 past 0506 UT and later, dead air from KOSU instead of `The Spy`; everyone asleep depending on automation? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. An FM bandscan while viewing Kites Over Enid festival in a field north-central Enid, April 24 after 1837 UT, includes: 100.7, Stillwater ad and ``101 Country, KASE`` ?? Sure sounded like that but has to be Ponca City, where the call has always been KPNC. Obscured by recently activated local KGWA translator on 100.9; while Stillwater really has an also obscured one on 101.1. 104.7, Blackwell ad from ``The Bull``, which is really KQSN Ponca City. 107.9, some rockmusic, low modulation, a surprise aside 107.7 OKC. Then it fades away. Certainly no Es now. Maybe a Kansan, or RF feeder in another car which has driven away. 95.1, dead air, suspect an RF feeder in somecar not in use but left turned on; blots OKC/Wichita unless one of them really be dead (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA [non?]. Obscured by recently activated local KGWA translator on 100.9; while Stillwater really has an also obscured one on 101.1`` Terry Colgan in Austin TX replies: ``KASE 101, 100.7, Austin, TX`` This is VERY strange! No 423-mile Es or tropo DX to be expected at this midday, and I DID just hear a Stillwater ad. Meteor scatter temporarily overriding KPNC?? It certainly did not seem so. Possibly KPNC has acquired liners from KASE since they are both country on 100.7 yet branding as 101? I`ll have to listen some more to KPNC. WTFDA FM database shows somewhat different slogans for KASE: ``KASE-FM 100.7 AUSTIN TX HD COUNTRY KASE 101, TODAY'S COUNTRY 100.0 100.0 363.0 363.0 30-19-10 97-48-06 11D8 KASE-FM Austin's #1 for New Country Country`` ``KPNC 100.7 PONCA CITY OK COUNTRY 101 COUNTRY 25.0 25.0 77.0 77.0 36-46-59 97-04-15`` (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 100.7, KPNC Ponca City is tough to hear driving around Enid on caradio, tnx to mere KGWA translator on 100.9. Certain spots it`s slightly weakened, and maybe KPNC slightly strengthened. Also depends on how much KGWA is modulating per moment. FM bandwidth on PL-880 too wide; off-tune to 100.6 no help, then abutting 100.5. OKC. Circa 1919 UT April 26, I did hear a KPNC ID and a ``Country 101``, no sign of KASE Austin TX as I somehow heard a biday earlier (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** PERU. 4752.47v, April 23 at 2357 via Bonaire SDR, R. Huanta Dos Mil is still here, SAM offset varying .467 to .472. Instead of cutting off circa 0030 as before, at rechex 0030, 0045 and 0100+ still going, vs CODAR. It`s not audible via the occasionally active Bogotá SDR, where I`m also checking for the Colombian pirate on 6016+, active only on weekends, but not yet heard on either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PERU. 4752.5, April 25 at 0027, JBA carrier much weaker than CODAR swirshes, no doubt R. Huanta 2000 as heard several times via Bonaire remote, but this is all it can achieve direct (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PHILIPPINES. 12080, April 25 at 1453, VOA Korean is the SSOB, S9/+10, stronger even than 11760 RHC or Martí 11860 & 11930. This is 250 kW, 21 degrees from Tinang at 1200-1500, aimed right toward us far beyond Koreas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PUERTO RICO. 391-MCW kHz, April 26 at 0612 UT, 1000-watt NDB, DDP in Dorado. Often but not always heard, and not always logged. Getting at least one from CANADA, q.v. at same time. Remains my only LA MW/LW beacon, not even a Mexican (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. 9850, April 27 at 0300, JBA carrier to remote in Maryland, maybe RRI English as scheduled to NAm; NO signal on 7375, 11825, or 15330-DRM. UTwente is not hearing any 7375 or 9850. Per Aoki, 9850 could also be CNR1 jamming vs Sound of Hope, or PBS Qinghai in Bod-Tibetan from Xining site. RRI Spanish during 0200 hour also supposed to be on 4 frequencies, but none audible at Boa Vista TWR SDR: 9700, 11780=Brasil!, 11945, 15330. RRI notified Spanish listeners today that only two transmitters were down, one each at Tsiganeshti and Galbeni, as publicized on AER list: https://www.rri.ro/es_es/dos_transmisores_estan_fuera_de_servicio-2636081 Can`t find any advisory about English: This page has schedules of several past seasons, of no use now, and also very old notices of outages, but not currently! https://www.rri.ro/en_gb/RadioRomaniaInternational/how_to_listen-309 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. Re RRI frequencies missing, Stephen Luce replies: ``Glenn, RRI now has English advisory about the transmitter outage: https://www.rri.ro/en_gb/emitters_out_of_service-2636082 They also included the advisory at the end of their 0000 English newscast UT April 27, as heard here in Houston on 7375. No signal heard on 9550 at the same time. Later just before 0300 I could hear the RRI IS with an extremely weak signal on 9850 via the UTwente SDR, nothing on 7375. Reception above 7 MHz has been terrible the past week or so, whether listening here in Houston or via UTwente. The current RRI transmitters were installed in 2008, so relatively youthful for SW. RRI also had a transmitter outage for several days at the beginning of A21. I fear that continued problems might lead to more pressure to shut down SW output. Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas`` Viz.: ``Dear friends, Radiocom, 2 of the 5 emitters transmitting RRI’s broadcasts, one in Ţigăneşti (near Bucharest) and another one in Galbeni (eastern Romania), are out of service, Radiocom, the company transmitting Radio Romania International’s programmes has announced. This will affect a number of shortwave frequencies for RRI’s broadcasts in Romanian, English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Arabic and Chinese. Radiocom has given assurances it is making efforts to bring the emitters back into service. We’ll keep you updated on the situation and invite you to tune in to our working frequencies and our online broadcasts (including on demand), via the download mobile applications available in Google Play and App Store, via Eutelsat 16A and via your land and mobile phones.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) {the Galbeni transmitter was reported back in service April 28} ** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. While confined to indoor antennas due to storms, I`ve reactivated my Sony ICF SW07 with active antenna in a south-facing window, April 24 after 0300 UT, first finding dead air on 5950 WRMI while other frequencies such as 5800 are OK. At 0408, 5950 with S9+10 of dead air; also 5850, then bursts of non-BS but TOM audio on and off on both (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, April 23 at 2015, REE NAm frequency is VP S2-S4, while ME channel 15520 off the back is S1-S4, so that`s no help. Friday token English at 2202: 17855 now S9/+10 but soon fading down; 15520 S9-S7; 11940 S9+10/S7 the S American frequency is best. After news review, 2203 something about a music project in El Salvador involving `El Sistema` as in Venezuela, and the native Nahuatl language, which I thought was in México, or more correctly, they say, Nahuat, without the -l -- I assume from only hearing it, not seeing it spelt. Guest was Sonia Mejía; 2226 finally plays a bit of the music. 2230 check of 17855 finds it still poorly audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN [and non]. 17855, April 26 at 2219, during token Monday English from REE, so-called NAm frequency is JBA carrier; maybe better at Walterboro target? 15520 JBA; 11940 S6-S1 so best of the worst; 11685 JBA S1-S3. Should be on 9690; Altho Greece 9420 also USward is not doing very well either at S3-S5. K index at 21 & 24 going up from 1 to 2, solar flux was 80, after G1 storming. Presumed toward N America, but can`t look up the azimuth or CIRAF in HFCC as ERT is another station withdrawn: only one frequency left on SW, so why bother to coördinate? I`ll tell you: to discourage others from taking it over, like Russia and China which are registered a number of hours on 9420. Azimuths are beyond the scope of WRTH and EiBi. The full Aoki/NDXC does show VOG beam angles: 323 degrees right across North America with the odd power of 170 kW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, April 27 at 2210, wow, REE is inbooming S9+25 in interview with someone American-accented. Tue at 2200 should be the Ladino service but they are defaulting to castellano. For once the N American frequency is holding up from local ``midnight`` and better than the others: 15520 to ME JBA; 11940 to SAm only S5-S7. 17855 is still VG S9 by 2226. We shall see whether a fluke or hold up into summer season. Of course we need that to happen at 2200 on M/W/F when there is token English. BTW, at 2228, no signals at all on the 18 MHz hamband. If any Spaniards had been trying, they surely would have been audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, April 28 at 0106, NO signal from REE to North America; altho it held up well into Ladino[non] by 2215 April 27, and supposed to last entire transmission until 0200*. 11940 for S America is a JBA carrier? now, no good either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Wed April 28 at 2129, REE is S3-S7 in Castilian, asking for reports via whatsapp! also // 11940 S3-S6, while 15520 S5-S7 has split into Arabic. 2220 all four rejoin for English: 17855 S9 but deep fades to S3, Justin Coe introes with news, later feature to be about regional elexions next week in Madrid. After Burkina Faso item, 2204 over to Alison Hughes for world news as if BF were not? Spaniard long resident in Gaza working for NGO to aid Palestinians has been arrested and held without charges by Israel. 2211 pandemic in India, still VG signal on 17855 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SUDAN [and non]. 7205, April 23 at 0301, S8-S9 open carrier, surely Sudan Radio, Omdurman; someham pretends to be AM by tuning his LSB-only signal here, but no QRM on USB. At prime time in the morning, also JBA carriers on 7180 > 7140 presumed VOBMEritreans. By 0328 maybe trace of music. 0342 I switch to UTwente SDR in Holland, where 7205 is S9 but clearly barely modulated, occasional talkwords peaking, 0345 bit of music. WRTH says irr. from *0300; Eibi says from *0257; Aoki from *0200. At 0350 & 0356, I JB hear some Horn-of-Africash music. A 4+1 timesignal at 0400 cuts thru, 11 seconds late. Don`t rely on this for navigation! Then some mumbletalk, news in Arabic? I daresay even nearby one would have to turn the volume up full and hope for the best. Dumps off air abruptly at 0405:15*. I switch to offset BFO to hear any carrier come back, which it finally does at *0423, again/still, JBM. I must also say, the FPU stations do a much better job of broadcasting to Sudans from outside. Manuel Mendez, Spain, hears 7205 in his evenings, and also the external service grandiosely appelled ``Voice of Africa`` on 9505 going from French to English at 1715. I wonder if that modulation be any better (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 23 at 2202, no signal from VOT direct, only RTTY. However, at 2230 check, RTTY is off and VOT English is on, but JBA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 26 at 2218, VOT music is VP S5-S7, no RTTY now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 28 at 2158, nothing but RTTY; 2212 no RTTY and still no VOT in English to America. That leaves the final repeat at 0300 on 7275 INTRUDING into our hamband which seems to be more reliable. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler, awry at Ankara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 385-MCW kHz, April 25 at 0529 UT, ND beacon HO, which is 200 watts from HOt Springs, Arkansas. Not audible by 0532, fadeout? I was tuned to 383-USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7602-USB, April 24 at 0113, sounds like a Civil Air Patrol net, mainly person with high-pitched voice, either woman or child. Not her? but some replies conclude with a beep. Keeps making contacts spelling out fonetikally secret messages, but trouble copying each other, asking for relays, etc. Extremely rigid para-military format. 0115 announces time as 0115 zulu; correct. Difficult copy here past 0124, due to weak signals, high storm noise level, and indoor antenna. But: 7615-USB, April 24 at 0125, I encounter the known CAP net, generally stronger, closer? signals, and one of them sounds like the same woman/child just heard on 7602-USB. Keeps referring to YX, presumably this net designator. Some of the tactical calls mentioned, either callers or callees, not necessarily spelt right: Light Speed 41; Blue Skies 52; Skyline 32; Rattlesnake 42; Fast Runner 37 & 31. Mentioned QSY to NNC, which must be secret name of another frequency; Silver something 34 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7602-USB and stronger 7615-USB, UT Wednesday April 28 at 0109, the two paramilitary ``Civil`` Air Patrol nets again, some of the stations beeping at each end of transmission, saving them the trouble of uttering ``over`` over and over, just like CBers (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Well, maybe COVID will get him totally unvaxed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5950, April 25 at 0100, checking WRMI via Knoxville W8BUG remote, `YROT` theme so it`s Texas Radio Shortwave, Third Mate Susan says another in the Texas Music Tribute series, asking for reports to be eQSLed; then Britrobo, or Cap`n Ric, introes an hour of Kenny Rogers, first song `Planet Texas`. O my, WTFRWW pirate still going on 6930-USB, and `Encore` classical is just starting on another WRMI, 5850; I have to compromise with the latter (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Unsolicited but always welcome eQSL from TRSW April 25: ``Ahoy Glenn - We hope you listened to the entire "Planet Texas" song on WRMI. Cap'n Ric thinks that was the best part of the program and walks around singing it, much to Crew's chagrin. Here's another excellent TRSW eQSL, more valuable than a chest of pirate gold. 73 and Arrgghh. Always be yourself. Unless you can be a pirate. Then always be a pirate. https://www.facebook.com/texasradiosw Texas Radio Shortwave - Sailing into your ears from the Lone Star State`` https://www.w4uvh.net/TRSW_KennyRogersTribute_eQSL_WRMI_Hauser.pdf or #121 via: http://www.worldofradio.com/QSL.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7490v), UT Sat Apr 24 from 0000, WBCQ webcast with `AAAWWW`: I only dip in and out occasionally, as whenever I do, Angela is yelling about something, such as calling George Floyd a thug and that Chauvin should not have been convicted of murder. This is really repellant, except to those of like mind. Allan sounds reasonable by comparison, but not really: again he makes no distinxion between socialism and communism (and Democrats), i.e. Democratic Socialism as successfully practiced in western Europe, vs Commie dictatorships. Of course that indistinxion we may blame on the CCCP by its very name, giving socialism a bad name for sesquidecades. Allan also mentions that he`s tired and thinking of retiring, turning the operation over to Angela. At 0045 says it`s on both 6160 and 7490; 0052 into email. Somewhat more detail from John Carver: ``Tonight's show started on time on both 6160 and 7490 with 7490 having the better signal. The het appeared about a minute after the top of the hour on 6160. Allan and Angela in the studio. Allan is feeling a little under the weather this evening and did some coughing and sneezing during the show. Allan and Angela talking amongst themselves for a bit. Allan stated that he and Angela had done some sight seeing in Fla today. Into politics within fifteen minutes. Anti taxes, anti stimulus checks, anti toll roads etc. This writer will not repeat what was said but Angela then jumped in and started talking about George Floyd. Allan didn't want to talk about it but got drawn in. A lot of raised voice as Angela got worked up into her rant about almost everything. Phone call at 0032 pours more gas on the fire and also brought up many more conspiracy theories that hadn't been in the mix earlier. Call lasted for eight minutes and did nothing to calm Angela down. Reading of emails at 0052 with most of the emails supporting Angela. Things flare up again during the reading of emails. Closing prayer at 0059 into music at 0100 and then into Hal Turner. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 6159.9, April 25 at 0025, WBCQ still here during Area 51/61 music, with RHC splash from stronger 6165, even when tuned to LSB; yet 6155 remains vacant! Other `BCQ, 7489.9, presents us with a Yeshua fanatic; NTY (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330, Apr 24 at 0249, NO signal from 500 kW WLCR/WBCQ. Got to be OFF, since 9265 WINB is still well audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9265V, Apr 24 at 0249, WINB is S7-S9 with SWRG beepery; 0359 still on later than usual? with `Battle Hymn of the Republic`, unmarred, and then 0401 the merely secular `Star Spangled Banner` is treated as produxion music behind WINB sign-off, rather than Our National Anthem, to be played with respect. But does not get 9265 turned off or at least silenced, before another program start `Back to Calvary` for a few seconds after 0402, then off. I guess it continue on webcast. No sked for that but B2C is supposedly at 9 pm EDT Fri = 01 UT Sat. America`s oldest private SW station still doesn`t have its basic act together. Schedule still dated March 14 shows `Worship at Home` nightly except UT Sundays from 0300 - so it must be an hour long, but sign-off times or length of final show are never given (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, UT Sun April 25 at 0023, WTWW-2 just started `TOUTA` as Bob Heil says it will be mostly music by George Wright at the Chicago? Theatre. On the PL-880, bandwidth keeps jumping narrow/wide with a mind of its own even tho locked, obscuring any distortion on the transmission, anyhow causing me not to listen (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 9840, April 26 at 1436, praise music at S5-S7 via Missouri SDR --- certainly not Turkey nor off-frequency Vietnam, not a trace of them, rather WHRI as registered A-21 for extensive usage of 9840, but had been off the air or at least never heard anywhere/anywhen, since season began. Aoki shows at this hour it could only be on 9840 day 7 which is Saturday, but this is Monday. HFCC does not try to break it down, just available at 12-20 UT every day to CIRAF 4,5 and 9, E Canada and Greenland, 100 kW at 25 degrees. 1446, Kimberly Ann (sp?) comes on with gospel-huxtering and ID as World Harvest Radio, P O Box 12, South Bend, Indiana 46624, yak and yak including Revelation refs past 1455; 1459 WHR ID again and music only; 1503 KimAnn is back with outro; 1504 finally the old completely outdated canned ID as WHRI, Cypress Creek, South Carolina, LeSEA Broadcasting along with `Onward Xian Soldiers` war-mongering theme; and 1506* cuts off the air uncovering weak Turkish, confirmed as VOT at UTwente where it`s strong; 1512 mentions Joe Biden, wonder why? Anyhow, proof that FBC`s WHRI is not completely dead yet. Maybe proving to would-be buyer WBCQ that it can still funxion? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1430, April 25 at 0416-0425 UT, I`m trying for WION, Ionia, Michigan publicized testing, first on the R75 with E-W longwire. Nothing unusual noted, just graveyard-like pileup of multisignals, until at 0425 a talker briefly dominates. Our closest, Tulsa is not much of a factor on its night pattern; at least the felonious St Louis station is no longer in the way. Then at 0426-0433 UT I switch to the DX-398 aimed NE toward WION, still nothing significant. At 0521 UT I try again on the DX-398, and behold, barely atop the jumble someone says ``...would be appreciated....` and ``WION``, definitely mentioned. Maybe were asking for reports. Next few minutes there was conversation, no idea whether same station, and also something playing a Dolly Parton song. Here`s info about the test, including a night coverage map. Somewhat oval favoring NNW. At the later hour WION had probably gone up from night to day power. Ionia is just east of Grand Rapids: https://groups.io/g/IRCA/topic/wion_1430_stereo_testing/82342686?p=,,,20,0,0,0::recentpostdate%2Fsticky,,,20,2,0,82342686 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 11835, Apr 23 at 0601, R. Vanuatu with YL in presumed Bislama, S4-S5, as fundamental 3945 must have just come on. If this make it, NZ fundamental 11725 should too, but AWOL (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU [and non]. 11835, Apr 25 at 0615, R. Vanuatu 3 x 3945 harmonic is S9-S5, strongest I`ve ever heard it, in Bislama conversation which I could easily have understood if it were English. Hardly anything on band but this and NZ 11725 which is not missing and S7-S9+10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 11835, April 27 at 0606, no signal from RV X 3. Nor on 7260 which should have switched to 3945 at 0559. No JBA carrier on 7890, RV X 2, either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 6205, April 26 at 0142 via Bonaire SDR, ROCV S6 with tropical music. SAM shows carrier 30 Hz off; it had been plus, but my notes seem to say minus, so not sure. FRW rejects my reports of this as not pirate but I`ve yet to see any proof it be legal. Question is, can it be a pirate if location is not secret? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** YEMEN [non]. 11860, Apr 27 at 2220 something JBA, unseems // 9710 RHC nor as spur de 11850 RHC which is weak dead air and no spur either on 11840. Also unusually no residual jamming audible on 11860 after Martí finish at 2200. Sometimes his wife Evie is in the room. If she laughs, he knows he's on the right track. "I got into show business in a way to not be alone. Like a lot of comedians, I'm a bit of a broken toy," he says. Colbert and Terry Gross catch up on the past four years, since the Trump administration and COVID-19 changed his comedy.
