DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS updated March 14 for DST season http:/www.worldofradio.com/dxpgms.html WORLD OF RADIO SCHEDULES updated March 14 for DST season http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST update Hi Glenn, my latest Hitlist update. https://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm 1) Update to UT offset notations for Cuba and USA following DST changes 2) Spain - REE: Added link to A-21 frequency schedule Unless there's a major change anywhere, the next update will be end of March for further DST changes. Best wishes and 73 (Alan Roe) ** ANTARCTICA. At 1533 UT March 17 I notified the WOR iog: ``[WOR] LRA36 is on --- At 1529 UT, music on 15475.96-RCUSB or so, LRA36 is back from Antarctica into a Brasil SDR. Regular Wednesday broadcasts resumed. ID at 1532 for ``15476``. Also German, English, Glenn, OK``. No replies received, but further from me: That`s on the Pardinho SP SDR, where there is rather high local noise level; so I try Campo one: less noise but also weaker signal. 1533 programa de hoy announces Base Esperanza geo coördinates; 1540 seems to be recounting history of the base or the station; 1542 music; 1546 ID and more music; 1549 ID, music; 1559 something about Venezuela; 1606 ID; 1608 start a song but cuts off the air with no sign-off. LRA36 had first been reported reactivated on Sat Feb 27, by Rudolf Grimm, in a long-delayed post via HCDX. Previous pattern was Wed, often repeated Sat, and sometime specials (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** BOTSWANA. 6175, Mon Mar 15 at 0346, S9 open carrier, or JBM? I guess it`s VOA scheduled to start Shona to Zimbabwe at 0400 M-F (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** BRAZIL [and non]. 11905-11910-11915, March 17 at 2304, NO DRM signal at all into Pardinho SP Brasil SDR, rather Japanese, NHK-AM which was always on before EBC picked 11910 for DRM experiments. Once DRM reversed angle from N to S there has been diminished interest in it up here, and may have been gone a while, but also now off or finished even inside Brasil? Even worse at the Campo SDR, not even NHK audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA [and non]. 340-MCW kHz, March 16 at 0606 UT, ND beacon YY and dash, which is 500 watts from Mont-Joli, Quebec. Facilitated by continued absence of my local EI on 341, where only OIN, Oberlin, Kansas is heard (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 7850-RCUSB, March 16 at 2222, no trace of CHU, off the air? JBA on 14670-RCUSB; not expected to be audible yet on 3330 or 6660. This site displays outages showing none since last August! https://nrc.canada.ca/en/chu-short-wave-station/ System status - NRC short wave station broadcasts (CHU) From: National Research Council Canada System status 3.330 MHz: online 7.850 MHz: online 14.670 MHz: online Last off 2020-08-13 @ 15:15; back on: 2020-08-14 @ 18:00 14.670 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6180, March 11 at 0147, S9+20 of dead air on CRI relay, trace of underaudio maybe Brasil if not CRI JBM. Also some lite pulse jamming, maybe bleedover from Cuban neighbor transmitter. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11845, March 12 at 1540 Cuban pulse jamming against nothing, despite Radio Martí having abandoned this frequency some years ago. Something`s always wrong at the incompetent and wasteful DentroCuban Jamming Command. Other broadcasters may be on to them: HFCC B-20 shows absolutely nothing scheduled on 11845. But EiBi has another jammer country, China`s CNR2 at 0100-0855 via x site. See also TURKEY [and non] (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13771 & 13629 approx., March 13 at 1503, extremely distorted spurblobs from RHC 13700-AM. At first there is no recognizable program audio. By 1523 there is a bit in FM or AM tuning, the F# tone more evident in AM. Also then found second-order blobs circa 13558 & 13842, i.e. plus and minus 71 and 142 kHz. Something`s always wrong at RHC. But not this, when checked March 10, 11 or 12 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11850, March 14 at 0057, RHC is S9+20 but very suptorted; while Spanish on 11760 and 11670 is normally modulated if hummy. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. As a running dog of Yanqui Imperialism, Cuba normally synchronizes DST shift dates to keep up with the Miami Gusanos, so should now be on UT -4; and despite being an external service, RHC shifts programming one UT hour earlier, as if that were anything but confusing in the rest of Latin America. So `En Contacto` should show up at 1335 UT Sundays --- but not March 14. At 1336 a discussion of COVID statistics, later outro as a live daily news conference by the head epidemiologist, which apparently preëmpt everything. Monitored on S9+10 13740, louder and stronger than S7-S9 13700 with no spurs detectable, also 9650 but distorted. Somethings` always wrong at RHC. I check 13700 again at 1443 in case not DST-shifted, but no E.C. then either. No local timechex caught, but 1455 newscast on 15140 and now 11760 is quite distorted via KC MO SDR; Frequency announcement at 1500 says 11760 & 15140 until 1800, also on the 24h FMs; 1501 starts Esperanto, ex-1600v winter timing, Sundays only. I bet their own schedule announcement be wrong as usual too but unstayed on it, as it`s daylight-shifting time for `Reliable Sources` on CNN; and `Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival` on KUCO (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, 1900 UT March 14, the first day of DST, RHC English confirmed shifted one UT hour earlier, on caradio, starting `The Week in Cuba`. Mod on this one lately rather lo-fi, hummy. Spotchex later in hour did not catch any reactivated DX program tho if brief could have missed it. 11880, next English hour has been at 22-23 UT during standard time but nothing there at 2209 check, nor on previously used 9720, 7380. Habitually this broadcast alone shifts one UT hour *later* during DST which does not make sense, so need to search for it between 23 and 24 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 4765, March 16 at 0031:05 open carrier cuts on music as I assume R. Progreso nominally starts now a UT hour earlier for DST; but then mod cuts off and on again. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11880, March 15 at 2222, RHC is on in French, S9+20/30; 2237 check Portuguese; 2301 English. So the 21-23 block to ``Africa`` has been shifted one UT hour later; despite 11880 absence on March 14, the first day of Yanqui DST when checked at 2209 UT. With that bigsig here to the NW, is 11880 really aimed at Africa, where it`s after midnight in most English-speaking countries? HFCC will never know, being boycotted, but Aoki thinx it`s 100 kW at 100 degrees from Bauta. The usual pattern, this broadcast alone shifted one UT hour *later* instead of earlier. But there could be an eventual frequency change after A-21 start, by first or second week of April, depending on circumstances. Also as usual, English at 23-24 again resynchronizes it with // 5040 which has just moved its English one UT hour *earlier*. Is this shift shown on the website? Of course not! Something`s always wrong at RHC. Spanish only, dated effective Nov 17, late for B20: https://www.radiohc.cu/de-interes/frecuencias Undated, including other languages but obviously outdated: https://www.radiohc.cu/de-interes/programacion 6000, March 16 at 0035, RHC already in English, S9/+10 but very undermodulated // 9700 also reading S9/+10 but well modulated for thin-voiced YL, who, unlike ``Ed Newman``, never ad-libs, sounding much louder. Evening English presumably starting on these two only, at nominal 0000. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6060, March 16 at 0556, RHC English with humbuzz here, but clear on // 6000, while the other //, 6100 has lighter hum. 9700 presumably off by now, leaving JBA carrier from Turkey. 5040 is also finished. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13630, March 16 at 1334, weak spurblob with F# tone tuned in AM mode, but no program modulation in FM either; obviously out of RHC 13700-AM which is undermodulated and S8-S9 weaker than it could be, also weaker than // 13740 at S9/+10. Opposite blob on 13770 is even weaker JBA. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11530, Tue March 16 at 1753, S6-S8 open carrier to 1754*; all other 25m signals much weaker except 11760 RHC. That`s apropos, since per Aoki, this is: 11530 1655-1750 CUB Cuban Spy Numers Spa Bejucal 1-7 11530 2255-2350 CUB Cuban Spy Numers Spa Bejucal 1246 If you`re lucky, may hear RHC audio by mistake or vice versa. Here is a complete list of all those frequencies, each with a specific sked depending on day of week: 9065, 9155, 9330, 10345, 10715, 10860, 11435, 11462, 11530, 11635, 12180, 13435, 14375, 16180, 17540 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6060, March 17 at 0551, RHC English with pulsing sound marring modulation here of the thin-voiced YL, who named herself, I think, Lina? Valverde. It`s impossible to find staff info at RHC website, except for management. But Lena is correct per various print bylines searched out. // 6000 & 6100 sound better, but 5040 at 0556 is in Spanish, not English. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 18137-USB, March 17 at 2048, CO8LY Eduardo making quick contacts with US & Canadians; SOP now for respondent immediately to review previous contacts as on immediately searchable log. IIRC, used to hear him a lot on 12 meters. He`s quite the contester. Per QRZ.com CO8LY Cuba flag Cuba, Eduardo Somoano Cremati, P.O. Box 104, Santiago de Cuba 90100, Cuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EAST TURKISTAN. 5960, March 16 at 2357, TURKEY q.v. has finally turned off, uncovering XJPBS Urumqi in Chinese and with 5+1 timesignal ending one sesquisecond late as heard via UTwente SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ERITREA. 7140 & 7180, March 14 at 0313, JBA carriers a smidgin above each frequency but matching, and the higher one a tiny bit stronger, both vs LSB QRhaM and storm noise: so obviously the Voice of Broad Masses intruder pair (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GUAM. 11990, Tue March 16 at 2217, S5-S7 gospel huxter in English. Per Aoki/NDXC, it`s KSDA on days 135 = UT SunTueThu, the other days at 2200-2230 in Sundanese -- as in part of Indonesia, not Sudanese (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GUATEMALA. On March 12 I wrote to Radio Verdad: ``Dr Madrid, We miss your SW signal on 4055. What are the prospects for getting it back on the air from Guatemala? Regards, Glenn Hauser`` Quickly replied: ``Dear Glenn: Thank you for your concern. We are planning to repair one power module next Tuesday, in order to come back on air with 280 watts. I have acquired the mica insulators we needed for the power transistors. I am sending the other two modules to Canada to be repaired by Eng. Wayne Ralph Borthwick. The delay has been caused by the extreme negligence of our Technician. May God be with you and keep you with a good health. Dr. Édgar Amílcar Madrid, Radio Truth, Chiquimula, Guatemala, C. A.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KOREA SOUTH [non]. 11880, March 12 at 0059, huge open carrier, S9+10/20 via Bonaire KiwiSDR, so quiet that I thought at first the tuner was muted. About 0059.7 a few notes of the Encompass IS so evidently routed via London; 0100 opening ``KBS World Radio`` pronounced in English, otherwise relay in Spanish. This was found by Ivo Ivanov as a new entry in HFCC B-20 for March 10-12 only as a test, but was heard yesterday until 0200 with a VG signal by JRX in Brasil who thinx it runs at least until March 28. Supposedly still on 9605 via WHRI at same hour, I did not get around to checking. Other frequencies were registered via Greenville but AFAIK never tried. We assume that KBS relay is due to switch from SC to NC, sometime. I understand it is on azimuth 164 from Grimesland (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. Re my log of XEFRTM Zacatecas on 770, Saul Chernos, Ont., replies: ``Hi Glenn (and Bruce): I've been hearing a very regular W Radio on 770 here at Burnt River ON that is stream matching to XEFRTM Fresnillo. Two MP3 clips are attached. Mostly pop music of last few decades. It comes in often when I aim directionally WSW, which limits WABC somewhat. It also mixes with XEACH which is carrying Formula (also // webstream). I have noted lots of the 690 in Fresnillo lately, again also //webstream with 107.9 in the ID. It's now back listed at www.mwlist.org 73s Saul Chernos`` Wow, two clips with algo way under WABC; matching stream must be only way to ID (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NEW ZEALAND [and non]. 11725, March 14 at 0704, RNZP, huge S9+10/20 VG signal, introducing original cast recording from 1999y of ``Mamma Mia``. Was going to award it OSOB status until scan of 25m detected JBA carriers on 11835, 11815, 11770-; so merely SSOB. First had found 9700 vacant, still not QSY from 11725; but that has been moved up to *0800. Meanwhile, Ron Howard reports that Vanuatu is now on 3945 as early as 0533 instead of 7260, consequently its harmonix too. 6115, March 14 at 1350, RNZP still VG here with music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 4030-AM, March 14 at 0300, JBA carrier vs storm noise - tornados in TX panhandle approaching but better fizzle -- maybe a bit of musical modulation, gone by 0343 recheck. Bet it be a pirate as no ex-kewss for any othersig here. Yup: Ball Smacker Radio per several reports between 0158 and 0336* here: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,79065.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 255-MCW kHz, March 17 at 0145 UT, 25-watt ND beacon SW, as in StillWater, is back! Had been off since February 8 when frigid, icy weather hit, but long since recovered from that, highs in the 70s. Now a new storm approaches from the west with high LW noise level and rising, difficultizing audibility despite proximity. 341 EI Enid is still off from a later refailure (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 341-MCW kHz, March 15 at 0356 UT, Enid`s only ND beacon, EI, is gone again, leaving a trace of OIN or DNI? No particular weather excuse this time; but LW reception is really poor, hardly any DX beacons, e.g. Canada, only 332 QT Thunder Bay. Other OK, 350 RG at WRWA OKC is still there. WWV reported at 0300, K-index of 3 after minor G1 geomagnetic storms. EI still AWOL at daytime 1418 UT check March 15 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 91.7, March 17 at 0305 and still 0400 UT, dead air from KOSU, but streaming is funxional during `The Spy` --- no loss for me as KOSU throws away half its airtime at night for Okie music instead of public radio fare it provides so well in the daytime. Such a split personality discourages me from otherwise deserved financial support. I don`t want half of it going to The Spy. They don`t even provide NPR or BBC news overnight. There is no severe weather excuse for this outage. At 0413, carrier cuts off less than a minute, back on still dead, so maybe they are working on it. 0435 suddenly comes to life, no explanation or apology (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. Overcome by dead air: See USA: WRMI, WWCR ** SPAIN. 9690, Fri March 12 at 2300, REE S9+15/40, not off the air, with timesignal only about 0.5 second later than WWV, Spanish ID and opening token English. This time Alison Hughes presents a show about the Teatro Real producing, despite the pandemic, `Siegfried`, part of Wagner`s Ring cycle. Bits of music and interviews with several people involved in the opera from singer to conductor, producer, some in Spanish only. At 2310 one of them could not resist comparing the concept of the Ring, quest for Godlike power at the ruination of mankind and the planet, to Trump (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, March 17 at 2300, Justin Coe opens token REE English service with new A21 schedule, including 11670 Africa, 15520 Mideast, 11940 South America, and 17855 [ONLY, no 9690] to North America: at 18-02 weekdays, 14-23 weekends (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [and non]. 6125, March 12 at 0430, VOT Turkish music filling out English hour to N America, but with heavy pulse-jamming QRM adding up to S9+10/20. Of course it`s overrun from Cuba after Radio Martí quit at 0400*. Clueless TRT frequency management has not grasped it should avoid any Martí frequency even when itself be finished. Nor 9830 hitting RTTY after 2200 in the A seasons which I bet they are about to resume. Something`s always awry at Ankara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, March 15 at 2303, no signal from VOT English into Virginia SDR; is it on but not propagating? No, nothing at UTwente Holland either. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. And yes, with HFCC tentative A21 schedule now public, VOT does plan to resume 9830 when shifted to 2200, oblivious of the RTTY. Other English thisaway: 1230 on 15450; 0300 on 7275 --- like last summer INTRUDING into our hamband, rather than 9515 which might work with uptick in solar cycle. While we are at it, the full A-21 VOT English sked of <1 hour each: http://hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=A21&broadc=TRT 1230 15450 1630 15520 1830 5945 2030 9875 2200 9830 0300 7275 6165 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 12035, March 16 at 1332 & 1418, no signal from VOT at beginning or end of nominal English to W Europe and N America beyond. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. When this happen, a good chance the sloppyrators have failed to change frequency from previous broadcast; uplooked later, it`s German at 1230 on 15270. I had not noticed a signal there, but one on 15350 which would be TRT in Turkish; also at 1425 check, a fast SAH on 11815 which is 15350`s successor after 1400, mixing there with NHK; so lack of 12035 cannot be blamed on propagation. 5960 is another VOT frequency often AWOL, for English at 2300, but it`s present March 16 at 2316 check, S9+10/20 into UTwente. When it is missing, check these B-20 predecessors for overtiming: until 2130: 9625 French; until 2200: 5980, 6120 Turkish; until 2230: 9610 English Today 5960 keeps running after English with IS; 2355 starts interspersing German IDs, but cuts off at 2357* clearing frequency for XJPBS EAST TURKISTAN, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U K [non]. 6135, March 13 at 0628, French mentioning ``Afrique`` just before 0629*; HFCC shows 0600- BBC via VATICAN to CIRAF 37, which is Iberia, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia. Also with a LAH, probably from always off-frequency Aparecida, Brasil (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 332-MCW kHz, March 11 at 0716 UT, unusually a third station mixing with IC Wichita KS and QT Thunder Bay ON, the latter weaker than usual as it normally exceeds IC despite being 10X further. Part of the call is overlapping, but ends with -IS. This is a likely fit: FIS, Key West - Fish Hook FL, 400 watts. I had another fishy log of this on Dec 14, over 2 megameters away vs TB at only 1.5 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 420-MCW kHz, March 15 at 0545 UT, ND beacon FQ, 25 watts from Fairmont, Minnesota. I was tuned to 418-USB. 326-MCW kHz, March 15 at 0609 UT, ND beacon MA, 400 watts from Midland, Texas. Under degraded conditions, two of the few audible now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13565-CW, JBA vs CODAR, March 11 at 1451, K6FRC calls over and over, HIFER beacon in Patterson CA, every logging notable as it`s 1.8 milliwatts. Never traced much later in the day (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13566+CW, March 17 at 1505, as I am daily checking for K6FRC on 13565-CW, instead hear another HIFER beacon, first one in a long time, copied ``WAS`` right away but nothing more readable in next 11 minutes. Fortunately, WAS is the real call in the LWCA list: ``13566.22~ WAS Smithfield, NC FM13 CW (h 2020/12)`` and yes, this WAS slightly above 13566, but no chance to measure it. Smithfield is just SE of Raleigh, halfway to Goldsboro, 1758 km = 1093 stmi from Enid (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2076 monitoring: Monitored WRMI Sunday Evening / Monday Morning (UTC) 7780 kHz Schedule --- From my recording last Sunday evening, 7-8 March 2021 UTC (note additional airing of World of Radio at 23:00 UTC): 23:00 World of Radio (#2076; not Bringing Truth to Life) (Richard Langley, NB, March 10, WOR iog) New, now added to the sked grid. Has been 24 hours earlier Saturdays but not on grid, so both now, or moved? This would have been at same Sunday time as on Area 51 WBCQ 6159.93, but from March 14 that presumably shifts one UT hour earlier to 2200 UT, further into ever-increasing daytime absorption. I`m hoping A-21 skeds out shortly from HFCC will no longer show a WBCQ conflict with WHRI over 7490, so we can go back into the night at 0300 UT Mondays on 6160-. 7490 programming obligations had to be moved onto 6160. On first day of DST, expected change confirmed on Area 51 via WBCQ, 6159.93v, at 2200 instead of 2300, but JBA here, theme recognized at S5-S6 same as noise level; better than expected to MO SDR of KB0FX, S8-S9 with carrier offset varying minus 67 to 70 Hz. As I later informed Larry Will: Sunday night at 0345 UT Monday there was nothing on 7490. Maybe WHRI still after 0430 UT, not checked, but that means WBCQ can put the show now at 03-04 back on 7490 and we can get back 03-04 for Area 51 on 6160. VG via KB0FX KiwiSDR; also repeated after 0100 UT Sun Mar 14 on WRMI 5850. Host Brice Avery says the next WRMI airing, UT Mon on 5950 due to DST will be one hour earlier from March 15, at 02-03 UT instead of 03-04. Yes, per the skeds at http://www.tinyurl.com/WRMIgrid these Systems make a DST shift: B = 9955; G = 9395 between 5 and 11? pm EST/EDT, joined by 9455 at 8-9 pm; and L = 5950 at 4-12 pm EST/EDT except 6-7 pm on 7570 instead; but the label got it backwards. All the other Systems are supposed to stick to UT. Different frequencies take different System feeds depending on the time. While this may make sense in some way, it would also be very helpful to listeners if there were ALSO full program schedules sorted frequency by frequency -- not just the transmission skeds at top of page (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5950, UT Sun March 14 at 0200, Texas Radio SW via WRMI, as heard VG via KB0FX KiwiSDR in MO: starts with seabirds, a different jazzed-up version of `YROT` theme, Third Mate Susan introduxion of another TX mx tribute, offers QSL, also Can`n Ric. Some words are skipping as I listen, but does not affect the songs later, by Dana Maria whose real voice speaks from Frankfurt, Germany but originally from Austin. She introduces three songs at a time along with TRSW synthIDs; such as 0223 Trip Down Memory Lane; 0234 Wheelbarrow. Such tunes are not really appealing to me, but I wish her well. Maybe TRSW could eventually diversify. The wind band at University of North Texas, Denton, comes to mind, not strictly classical: https://windstudies.music.unt.edu/recordings They also have some stuff on YouTube that can be searched out. Its own radio station callsign is not what you might expect. As for TRSW on WRMI, their sked grid now shows two airings, as shifted henceforth due to the imposition of DST on 5950 System L: UT Sunday at 01-02 and will stay an hour earlier than `Weekend Radio` on WCLV; and Monday at 20-21 UT --- which is a bit early in the day for 6 MHz band to go very far, 4+ hours before sunset (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Another eQSL received from TRSW, now #116 via http://www.worldofradio.com/QSL.html with this reply: ``Ahoy Glenn - Here's an eQSL for your post in the WOR group. https://www.w4uvh.net/TRSW_DanaMariaTribute_eQSL_WRMI_Hauser.pdf Cap'n Ric's mulling over your idea of featuring a woodwind orchestra in an upcoming program. He wonders if it could be paired with live readings of his poetry, which would take diversity to a new level. We've heard his poetry and hope he deep-sixes any idea of reading it. We're not so sure about the woodwinds either. TRSW's program committee -- Cap'n Ric -- will make a decision soon. Our programs on WRMI, 5950 kHz, repeat each week until we upload a new one before the beginning of the next month. Occasionally Jeff White adds a TRSW program in a different time slot for variety. We appreciate that because it's another opportunity for listeners to hear us. 73 and Arrgghh. Always be yourself. Unless you can be a pirate. Then always be a pirate. Texas Radio Shortwave https://www.facebook.com/texasradiosw Sailing into your ears from the Lone Star State`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 4980, March 16 at 0058 no signal from WRMI, nor has there been JBA past few nights whenever checked, not even JBA carrier. You never know what they are doing with this frequency, on transmission skedgrid as Transmitter 4, 160 degrees for Carib/SoAmerica --- but with NO entries the entire 24 hours. Nevertheless had been audible at night with SMTV or something; thought to be very low power, exciter? Current skedgrid does show 4980 below twice more, Argentina relays effective 1 January, M-F 08-09 Japanese, 09-10 Chinese for WNAm and Asia. Maybe, but those two are more effectively shown atop on 9455. But further confusion: the System D/Blue skedgrid says Chinese at 09-10 is on 5950, while Japanese at 08-09 is on 9455 System F/Red! BUT: 5950 Transmitter 8 at 355 degrees on xmsn grid claims to be TOM at this and many other hours. 9455 now #5 at 285 degrees for SW US and Mexico, whatever may really be on it, misses east Asia by long shot. When I first checked tonight at 0058, there were equivalent JBA carriers on 4980 as well as 5060, 4850 and 4500, i.e. the matching quartet of Xinjiang PBS, Urumqi, circa sunrise in East Turkistan, land of ChiCom imperialist genocide. Recheck at 0205, they have all faded out and still no WRMI on 4980 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7780, Sunday March 14 before 2300 WORLD OF RADIO, as I reported, at 2259 WRMI had an English ID for PCJ Radio International. As always, Richard Langley was recording the Sunday into Monday 2000-0300 UT 7780 span to check ever-changing program content, including before 2300 an interview in Spanish about Cuban music spreading elsewhere such as Zaïre; and the interviewer in a clip sounds to me like Tom Meijer, as on the long-gone `Estación de la Alegría` from Radio Nederland; which is something PCJRI would have done, but why it`s on WRMI now instead of `Wavescan`, who knows? Jeff White replies that it seems like an audio switching error as they have no new programs from PCJ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9955, March 16 at 1419, world music from WRMI, not Brother Scare; but 1429 ID and 1430 JIP TOMBS, becoming // 9395 & 9455. Sked grid claims BS starts on 9955 at 1400 M-F. This keeps happening, but any reduxion in Brother HyStairical is a good thing. Seems like whenever I tune across him, he`s prompting for phone calls. 9395 is much stronger here than 9455, which doesn`t compute if the respective azimuths really be 355 and 285 degrees, as we are roughly halfway between them. Originally both were on 355, but at some unknown point, 9455 allegedly changed to 285. Even when both were at 355, they sounded unequal. There must be a disparity in the nominal 100 kW powers for all WRMIs and/or in some other parameter(s) (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9455, March 16 at 2226, dead air from this WRMI-5, supposed to be Overcomer from 11 to 24. 7570 & 7730, March 17 at 0237, still 0256, 0321, both S9+40 of dead air from these WRMIs 11 & 13, which happen to be the only two scheduled for TOMBS at 02-03, so nothing to compare as other US stations are otherprogramming too. No WWCRs are scheduled with TOM until 0400 at the earliest, 3215 which has horrible squealing. Ha! At 0407, dead air there too except for the squealing ruling! So the problem is somewhere between SC, International Vacuum and affiliates. BTW, as of March 17, WWCR program sked is still dated March 1 showing 6-hour difference between UT and CT, so beware and consult with care. After 0300 these WRMIs are supposed to add on: 7780, 9395 and 5850. At 0326, 5850 is dead air too; so are 7780 and 9395 into Maine SDR. If it`s a feed failure faulty from Walterboro, we certainly hope BS is still getting billed for transmission, a fine compromise between income and detestable programming. 0436 recheck, born again on the WRMIs, still dead on WWCR 3215 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 12050, March 12 at 1538, S7-S9 of dead air in Spanish from WEWN; for at least a minute, so not merely long boring pause in a mass (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (5085), UT Sun Mar 14 at 0116, WTWW-2 webcast avoiding crummy audio on its SW, in stereo, `Theater Organ Under the Arch` caught from the beginning and this time lasting exactly 30 minutes until a Tedad at 0146. Bob Heil presenting more archive recordings including his own but starting with Gene Wright. Annoying just before it started was the WTWW ID mistreating our National Anthem as if it were produxion music with just a few seconds of it. Presumably this will all appear one real UT hour earlier from next week as WTWW is yet another ``international`` SW station succumbing to intranational, irrational DST (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 9975, March 14 at 0702, gospel music only S1-S4, but must be KVOH beyond scheduled 0700* as of Feb 3 sked; suspect they are now moving everything one UT hour earlier to stay at same local time - as if that applied in target Caribbean, South America so would now quit circa 0600v*. I ask Ray Robinson about this, who promptly replies: ``Hi, Glenn. KVOH will now be on 9975 kHz 0000-0600 UT Tue-Sun. Wavescan at 0200 UT Sun, repeated at 0200 UT Tue. And, the updated KVOH sched is now on the website. http://www.voiceofhope.com Voice of Hope - Africa schedule is unchanged (no DST in those parts). Wavescan at 0600 UT Sun on 9680 & 11680 kHz, repeated at 1800 UT Mon on 4965 & 6065 kHz. Ray Robinson, Strategic Communications Group, Voice of Hope World Radio Network`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Re 9975, KVOH scheduling changes, Ray Robinson replies: ``Hi, Glenn. The primary target areas for KVOH, at least for our Spanish language programming, are Cuba and Mexico, and both of those countries do observe Daylight Saving. Plus, our FCC authorization for 9975 begins at 0000 UT winter and summer, to protect WWCR transmitter #4 which is on 9980 until that time. We have no option but to keep our start time at the same UT 0000 (one hour later local times), while shifting our program content one UT hour earlier. Ray.`` HFCC shows CIRAF targets for KVOH are 10, 11 and 12, i.e. Mexico; Caribbean & Central America; and NW quarter of South America. Of course, may really intend only fraxions of each, but the 100-degree azimuth from LA, no accident by the original owner, goes right at Habana, thru Cuba, Haiti, Trinidad, skirting the NE coast of South America, rather far off from Mexico, but I expect 9975 is really pretty broad. Except for border towns, DST in XEland does not start until April 4 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1030, March 17 at 0152 UT, Mexican music, and soon SHVAs plugging the two FM translator frequencies, 99.1 and 97.3, of WNOW Mint Hill [Charlotte] NC, 9.4 kW daytimer direxional west. Before and since I first discovered it March 10, many others have reported it. Slogan ``La Zeta`` I still haven`t copied for sure in the exaggerated SHVA intonation, but no doubt this be it. BTW, what positive connotation has Zeta in Spanish; the end, or the ultimate? Altho not so in the original Greek, rather Omega (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1090, March 14 at 0458 UT tune-in for WENR Englewood TN much publicized 1000-watt ND daytimer DX test, and already hear sweeps upward. Must use LSB to avoid KRLD 1080 IBOC noise circa 1093, but cannot avoid the major occupant of 1090, KAAY Little Rock. I do record it as required for QSL and will eventually get around to sending report, but I will not subject myself to more than 9 minutes of KAAY inevitable gospel huxter. Test will run two hours until 0700. At 0500 solid tone, 1 kHz? Pause maybe unreadable voice ID? Never copied one. 0502 sweeps upward. 0503:45 steady tone. 0504:10 VVV VVV DE WENR - there may have been a bit more in the code ID, thought I copied MER; sweeps up again. 0506 code again, is it faster, and/or higher-pitched? 0507 phone-off-hook pulses JBA; 0508 code again including WENR and sweeps again, tune-out by 0509 UT. On my R75 with 100` E-W longwire. Of course from this angle, no way to null KAAY on the DX-398, almost same direxion. 1210 km = 752 statute miles. Englewood is between Chattanooga and Knoxville. Heavy storms west of here earlier this evening not a problem now for this. Tnx for the test; should be widely heard. This is the same station which was originally going to try a daytime DX test just before sign-off, 2200-2315* UT on Sat Feb 27, but that was canceled; why? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1090-LSB, March 14 at 0653 UT, quick recheck for WENR TN DX test, which I had heard immediately at 0458-0509, no sign of it now, just KAAY; supposed to run until 0700, but quit early? When not DX-testing, WENR format is ``The Little Gospel Giant`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1090, March 14 at 0507-0509 UT, clip of WENR TN DX test vs KAAY, tuning with R75 passband boosting the LSB, including: phone-off-the-hook, repeated Morse code IDs: VVV DE WENR and upward sweeps; as sent to the CPC with complete original report, for QSL: https://www.w4uvh.net/WENR_1090_DXtest_2021_0314_0507.mp3 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1540.20v, March 11 at 0705 UT, major het against 1540.00 KXEL at al. stations, presumably again WKVQ Eatonton GA, 10 kW daytimer as previously traced; little or no modulation on it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2077) ** U S A. 1540.2, March 17 at 0143 UT, no het against 1540.0 stations, so WKVQ Eatonton GA finally fixed, or at least daytimer off? I believe it was still there last night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. CBS SUNDAY MORNING, online access seems to change every week. On Sat Mar 13 I`m ready to view the Sun Mar 7 edition via https://www.cbsnews.com/sunday-morning/ but inexplicably the top link is not to March 7, but December 27! It`s 62 minutes so presumably the whole thing, just the wrong week, wrong month, wrong year. However, beneath it are linx to ten individual segments of March 7 which don`t quite add up to 62 minutes: missing are the opener, and the closer, nature segment. Later I do find the latter further down and it`s a hefty 3:23 long featuring baboons. On the broadcast it is always much shorter, obviously used only as a filler to round out the sesquihour as needed. So I have to play each segment individually and put up with 3 or 4 different 15- to 30-second duplicative commercials rotating first; when each segment finishes it always defaults to whatever is on the current CBSN live stream, so have to keep backing up to the SM home page. Enough of this nonsense: back to taping it myself off KWTV at too early 8 am [now 13 UT] Sundays, and going to the web only in an emergency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7890, March 12 at 0706, JBA S5-S6, maybe trace of modulation from presumed R. Vanuatu, 2 x 3945; also S4-S5 on 11835, 3 x 3945, the three of them now starting at 0700. I`ve been intending to seek previous fundamental 7260 until 0659 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 6205.026v, March 12 at 0210, ROCV via Bonaire SDR, much stronger than last night, power up from 60 watts? But overmodulated/distorted, continuous music past 0230 rather than frequent, or any, 93.7 IDs as before. Kiwi shows carrier varying around plus 26 Hz, very close to where I measured it directly a binite ago, +22 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2077) ** VENEZUELA. 6205, March 15 at 0233, RCOV music is S6-S7 into Bonaire SDR but noisy; as usual a JBA carrier direct at best (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search March 15 from 0405: 531, 576, 585, 612, 621, 639, 684(2), 711, 729, 747(2), 774(2), 855, 882, 891*, 999, 1044, 1089, 1098(2), 1107, 1125, 1215, 1305(2), 1314(2), 1422. *strongest; (2) at least two beating (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 1710 kHz, March 15 at 0411 UT, at least two JBA signals beating, first noticed at conclusion of JBA MW carrier from Europe search. Some music and talk modulation detectable; 0536 recheck, now JBA alternating M&W talk, unseems a TIS loop, S8-S9 but about same as band noise level; at least hardly any lightning now across North America. Others have been reporting great low-power DX on 1710; such as Hudson County NJ, Bandelier National Monument NM, Travis AFB CA, KHMB Half Moon Bay CA. But I need more antenna gain (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 2959.85V, March 12 at 0330, JBA carrier again suspected of being second harmonic of an off-frequency 1480 station. As previously reported on almost same frequency: ``UNIDENTIFIED. 2959.842, March 2 at 0207, JBA carrier, suspected second harmonic of a 1480-minus station. Later checked my previous log to find independently measured within 3 Hz: UNIDENTIFIED. 2959.839, Feb 22 at 0349, JBA carrier unseems birdie, again suspecting a second harmonic from a Latin American MW 1479.9195 but nothing that far off in mwoffsets`` Meanwhile no one else has reported it; did anyone even try? So this time I quickly go over to the KiwiSDR net looking for it at numerous remotes around USA and S America --- nothing. So now I am concluding it really be birdie from a local device. Never mind (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 11342-USB, March 12 at 1542, 2-way, at first unID language but maybe heavily accented English from a flight, reply in real English mentioning phone patch and sending sel-call tones. But nothing more heard for 4 minutes. Numerous 11342 logs in UDXF iog up to 2018y as New York LDOC; tho maybe some other hub along whatever route this apply to. What does LDOC mean? Last Day Of Classes, Laying [sic] Down On Couch; or more likely, Long Distance Operational Control (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. RF 35, 34, 22, 20, 15, March 14 at 1455 UT, BAD signal bars on these `open` TVDX channels tnx to minor tropo enhancement around here but none strong enough to decode (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
