Night pattern is supposedly a broad cardioid with a null due south right toward me, and to boot, I am listening on the E-W-favoring longwire. 730 has proven to be an interesting DX frequency: only low-powers at night in the US, as it`s a Mexican/Canadian `clear`, for CDMX, Montreal, Vancouver, not to mention Dauphin in between. It seems that XEX is no longer a factor: originally 100/100 kW ND, it can`t be anywhere near that power any more (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 14670-CUSB, Sept 8 at 2142, no signal from CHU, and have also found it inaudible several daytime chex when it ought to propagate even under current conditions. 7850-CUSB is audible now and better in the evenings. A few informational items: -Channel 292 uses the English pronunciation (except for a long "a" in Radio) for their IDs even in their full German language mode, probably for marketing and branding reasons. When I first began with them I did full Deutsch only to change later to conform with their usage. -On WBCQ, the half hour before Camp Constitution is still an available time slot. UBMP is an hour-long program, but I'm told that WBCQ frequently uses the first half of it as filler in lieu of board audio. It's not an official broadcast of UBMP, the full hour is Sundays right after Marion's Attic on 7490 kHz (2200-2300 UTC right now). If people are enjoying the half hour interlude in the meantime, works for me. The Sunday tx is not a good option on terrestrial where you live during the summer months but should become practical as winter approaches. Meanwhile you westerners have a special dispensation to enjoy the webcast while it's there :) I like the Marion's Attic - UBMP - Le Show sequencing too much to reschedule away from it. -For Channel 292, 6070 and 9670 are apparently both in long skip mode at night in Europe. When we scheduled the broadcast a couple of months ago we had reason to believe that long skip would not become an issue until October, obviously things turned out differently. 9670 even landed in New England, and there are quite a few reports of the special from Russia. - There will definitely be Thanksgiving and New Year's specials on WBCQ and probably a New Year's special on Radio Channel 292. We have already had some correspondence from listeners letting us know that they became interested in a new (for them) program or two by listening to these. Thanks for all you do for radio. 73,`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ISRAEL [non]. 9955, UT Mon Sept 7 at 0400, after some uncertain switching, WRMI stays on air after WOR 2050, 4-pip timesignal, and into ``English language news from Kan`` as of 8 pm on Sunday = 17 UT. Synch indicates frequency fluxuating 5060.7 to 5061.6; still there past 0119 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) {fluxuation may have been due to USB, lack of carrier to lock on} ** NORTH AMERICA. 11735 & 12000, Sept 5 at 1800, no signals from anti- Christ pirate Station YHWH, which had been caught occasionally with Saturday-daytime broadcasts on 25m -- I got 12000 once, and Mick Delmage had him on 11735 blocking Zanzibar. An earlier obs not logged found them about equal and timed so alternating nicely (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 341-MCW kHz, Sept 8 circa 1900 UT, ND beacon at Woodring Airport, I haven`t paid attention to DFing, but from inside Enid to my surprise, it`s almost SE, while the AP is almost due east. Circa 1915 I drive out east on US 412 to the airport turnoff due north of the new terminal, and DF from there is due south; so 341 must be transmitting from considerably south of the runways. One of these days I`d like to visit it, if I have plenty of time and access, permission on backroads. For now as a bonus I pick up some high-calorie takeout from Carls Jr (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 780 kHz, Sept 4 at 1135 UT, strong rock music looping toward Stillwater, i.e. KSPI 250-watt daytimer; 1138 ``It`s Pete`` and more music. Checking since Tim Hall`s huge Final Report of his Border Inn NV/UT DXpedition last October included an unID on 780: ``10/26 1116 - "Strong Enough" by Sheryl Crow (successfully identified by SoundHound app) on ENE wire. Not sure who this would be; a whiny 90s pop tune doesn't fit KAZM's occasional overnight oldies show. It might fit on KSPI or possibly WPTN, but neither of those stations should be on at this hour`` I told him, ``780 unID, seems like I have heard KSPI before 7 am CDT, tho am rarely awake then -- maybe they are coming on at 11 UT = 6 am CDT. Will try to check. No, I can`t find any FCC record of psra.`` At FCC AM Query I look thru ancient history cards concerning KSPI. http://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/prod/cdbs/forms/prod/getimportletter_exh.cgi?import_letter_id=44676 Original CP in August 1946 was for 840, but changed by November to 780. In 1949, a Special Service Authorization to operate from 6 am to 7:30 pm CST --- was denied. In 1950 they tried for dual-frequency operation, switching to 790 at night with 500 watts direxional, but that was dismissed. In 1953 applied to move to 1490 unlimited hours, but later withdrew. On 9-30-69 there was a telegram about a ``PSA`` at 250 watts to protect WBBM. Does that mean pre-sunrise, post-sunset, or both?? And is that the basis for starting by 6 am now? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. Re 780 KSPI having a 1969y ``PSA`` from FCC, and what does it stand for? Bob Biermann, FL, explains on the WOR iog: ``In FCC jargon, PSA means presunrise authority, which is generally 500 watts, though sometimes less, beginning at 6:AM local time. PPSA is partial presunrise authority. An example of PPSA would be protecting a station toward east until sunrise at the protected station's location. PSSA is post sunset authority which may include multiple lower powers levels.)`` (Glenn Hauser, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 20, Sept 3 at 0345 UT a UHF/VHF bandscan prompted by minor area tropo of levels 3-2-1 between here and OKC, per Bill Hepburn`s maps does get something: a mostly solid signal on RF 20 into my still broken antenna, from DTV 42-1 KBZC-LD. A rare glimpse of an ``Enid`` TV station, in Enid! Axually, Enid is only the community of license, why? while the transmitter site is the NE OKC Antenna Farm along with all the major TV and many FM stations, just south of the Kilpatrick Turnpike, per rabbitears.info, 7.2 kW ERP at 328 feet above ground. Approx. 100 km from Enid. Has 7 channels, all with same PSIP ID: KBZC-LD. RF 21, at 0358 UT Sept 3, slightly weaker bad signal starts to decode while a top-of-screen streamer IDs as ch 19, KUOT. Listed as 5 channels of 3ABN stuff, 15 kW ERP from much further, the SE corner of OKC, near SE 95th and Bryant (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** PERU. 4940, UT Sept 7 circa 0135, remotes in S America are getting a JBA carrier but nothing more if it`s R. Also open carrier on 11940. 2203 checking at UTwente, 9690 open carrier with heavy ACI from 9685 Chinese music; 11940 & 11670 & 12030 all with dead air except for some rapid clicking which is more audible on each if offtuned 1 or 2 kHz from center carriers ---- and not heard elsewhere on bands so I conclude that is coming out of the Noblejas transmitters rather than QRM or something local at the SDR. Recheck here a sesquihour later at 2333, 11940 & 9690 are still on unmodulated, the latter registering S9+20/30 of wastage. A few days ago someone enquired whether REE English had been canceled but I can`t find it now; nor had I been checking every alternate weekday. Tnx anyway for lessening competition against WOR at same time on 9955 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Monday Sept 7 at 2203, REE English has not been canceled: Alison Hughes is back, after hours of dead air on Friday. Quick check on UTwente which altho reading S9+20, is not good for 9690 due to heavy ChiCom ACI from 9685. She`s interviewing someone stuck in their apartment, quarantined I guess (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, Wed Sept 2 at 2200, VOT cuts on just in time, allaying fears of yet another no-show, S9+40 as monitored via UTwente. Usual features; news, press reviews, `This Day in History`, `Did You Know That?` between music breaks, COVID-19 PSA, but by 2220, yet again no `Letterbox`, just more great Turkish music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, Friday Sept 4 at 2200, no signal here from VOT English for us, just NSS RTTY. Neither at UTwente checked at 2203 and beyond. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830.058v, Wed Sept 9 at 2200, VOT English to us is already in news so opened a bit early? Tuned-in via UTwente, S9+50! on the meter but sounds much weaker and noisy as if a thunderstorm right over Holland --- but Blitzortung shows the only storms in Europe now are in the Gulf of Bothnia, and western Mediterranean between islands of Spain and Italy. Maybe it`s a defect in VOT`s own transmission, or QRN to the Ankara-Emirler STL? No storms over Turkey either. I hopefully keep monitoring in case `Letterbox` make a comeback. After news: 2207 very brief headlines from Foreign Press [no Turkish press today]; 2209 COVID-19 PSA; 2210 This Day in History; 2213 Did You Know That? 2216 multi-lingual ID reel which takes about 2 minutes, what a time-filler! It would be more helpful if each language were introduced by its English name, to help us learn to distinguish them, especially the similar Turkic ones. 2218 into Turkish songs, and onward, so yet again no mailbag. Something`s always awry at Ankara, erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 365-MCW kHz, Sept 3 at 0624 UT, ND beacon AA, which is 100 watts from Fargo - Harwood ND. Also confirmed UT Mon Sept 7 starting at 0306.4 on Area 51 via WBCQ 5130, S8 at Rochester SDR; delayed so Larry & Jane Will could insert a bit from their `Lumpy Gravy` show last night, now when it would get additional attention: Larry refers to the Kook-Watch he has been publishing via the WOR iog, and something more he heard Sat Sept 5 at 1447 UT on WWCR 7490: `Remnant Ministry` calling for Bill Gates to be executed! This goes beyond the bounds of Free Speech. Same show is carried by WBCQ 7490 Mondays at 5 pm EDT; if Larry ever hears anything like that again on WBCQ, he threatens to terminate the station`s webcasting service which he is paying for. Resultantly, WOR lasted until 0335.4. WOR 2050 also confirmed UT Mon Sept 7 at 0330 on WRMI 9955: not making it to Bonaire SDR or others in Caribbean, S America, nor Rochester. Re my WRMI log under CUBA [non], of 5800 in Spanish after 0300 UT Wednesday Sept 2, assumed to be an expansion of R. República from UT Fri-Sat-Sun-Mon only, I later check the skedgrid now updated as of Aug 30, showing that hour really occupied by the Argentine media program La Rosa de Tokio. WS & WOR remain at 0300-0400 UT Tuesdays, and also a new repeat of `Encore` on UT Thursdays; the other days remain blank hiding the existence of Radio República. But should R.R. wish to expand to 7 dpw we`re all gone (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5950, Sept 3 at 0553, WRMI is S9+10 of dead air instead of SMTV; which had returned to normal after a couple days of double-audio; silence in compensation? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5800 & 5950, Sept 5 at 2352, both these WRMIs are running SMTV: more confusion. #10 on 5800 is so scheduled, but #5 on 5950 is shown as Overcomer on the frequency grid; but the 23-24 hour on the TOM System C grid shows 5850! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7490.1 & 6159.9 & 5130: UT Sat Sept 5 at 0000, I start monitoring `AAAWWW` on WBCQ direct. On 7490 the g.h. who thinx he`s later on 9625 from WINB is closing late, so WBCQ ID and WTO overlaps mixing with him. 5130 joins WTO slightly later. 6160 which has been in `Old Tyme Radio` at 0001 is playing hi-pitched IS, and other music; 0002 still not WTO, nor at 0004. 7490 is quite noisy, so I move to its webcast, but miss a minute or two of what`s being said. 1) Angela is beautiful; 2) lamenting a friend, Jim, who has died, not clear of what, accident? Later mentions last name Lerner, a visiting radio/TV engineer. At 0010 says ``6160 is not on`` --- well, it has been but not with this show; he thinx ``stupid remote control shut it off at 8 o`clock``. 5130 & 7490 are also on. It`s been bad week, besides losing Jim, personnel problems. 0013 says 6160 is back up, and gets into politix/religitix, denouncing Pelosi et al. repeatedly as ``dickheads``. 0019 pause and says there has just been a power outage; thinx his yelling axually blew 5130 & 6160 off the air by overmodulating! Puts on music fill to go out and restart them. I quickly check Rochester SDR and indeed 5 & 6 are off while 7 is still on. 0023 says 6160 is back on, but not 5130 which has 15-year-old tubes needing replacing. May have to move all 5130 programming to 6160, which was retubed a year ago. PA final tubes can be very expensive, a TH576 for the 500 kW transmitter is available new from Thalès for $189K, as he just priced it; weighs 135 lb, more than Angela`s 105, water-cooled. A rebuilt one would cost only $100K. Why charge so much? Not that complicated; because they can, as only source. For a 50 kW transmitter would cost only $10K, an ACX35000; or $6-7K rebuilt. Wishes someone would donate enough $$ to fix them up. Brother Stair provides some income, but ``is not paying a quarter of what he should be``, likewise other clients. 0029 into COVID-19; 0030 interrupted by a call, tells them to call back in an hour. That was about his other business, antique auto sales; see the HCCA website for his items, Horseless Carriage Club of America. On to nutrition discussion, obesity adding risk for COVID-19; both A & A are thin; he eats some meat such as plain hamburgers, she does not. Both eat veggies and so should everyone so their shit is green. 0044 caller from Toronto; 0046 finally reveals it`s 4th of September, YOOL 2020 and now on 7490 & 6160. 0048 call from Philadelphia wondering if tubes are guaranteed, and for how long. 0050 skims some Free Radio Weekly items just published including Nicaragua 8989 but not mentioning who reported it -- me. Resumes also mentioning FRSH, but balx at reading frequencies to 3 decimal places as I reported. 0057.5 mentions WHRI acquisition is still in transition period. Does not explain how he can pay $1.25 million for that yet can`t afford new tubes for Classic WBCQ Monticello. Benedixion and off just in time for 0100 Hal Turner. Here`s John Carver`s version: ``Tonight's show started on time on 7490 and 5130. 6160 was carrying music. Allan and Angela in the studio. Allan opens with how much he loves looking at Angela. Then into news of a friend of everyone at the station who had fallen from a radio tower, not at WBCQ. Allan mentioned that he was in the process of rebuilding transmitter number one and had been for a month now. Allan announced that 6160 wasn't running and it was probably a computer problem. Then he announced that it was now up and running the program. Then stated that if any BLM group tried to shut down the station they would be met with guns. Back to his friend, he said it was a shame that he had to die when there were so many other people in this country that should die instead. Then a very mini rant about Biden, Pelosi, Cortez and a few others. At 0018, 5130 went down and I retuned to 7490 in time to hear Allan announce that both 5130 and 6160 had gone down hard. He put some music on and went out to see if he could get them going. Allan was back at 0022 saying that 6160 was back up but 5130 was hopeless and probably needed to be retubed and that they may have to move 5130 programming to 6160. Said he would work on it late and make a decision then. He said all the tubes needed to be replaced and he was throwing around prices of a hundred thousand to a hundred and ninety thousand per tube. He mentioned that the programmers at the station should be paying three times more for airtime than they were now on the classic WBCQ. He asked for someone to send him a couple million dollars so he could fix all the transmitters. Then on to obesity and the epidemic of overeating in this country and how it contributed to Covid deaths. Then into general food talk. Phone call at 0043 from Canada with a gentleman suggesting that the station add a program about vegan foods. Allan and Angela thought it was a great idea. Another phone call at 0048 asking for verification of the tube prices that Allan mentioned earlier and asked if the tubes included a warranty. Reading of emails at 0050 starting with a reading of the Free Radio Weekly. Third email was the newest version of the Free Radio Weekly and he read through that one also. Another mention about buying WHRI and how wonderful it would be and how important to preserve all these radio stations but no real information about it. Closing prayer at 0058 and off the air at 0100. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7490.06, Monday Sept 7 at 2317, WBCQ playing African music; o yes, UB announces Timbuktu, Mali, so this is a bonus broadcast of UBMP, 25 hours after the original which I already heard Sunday at 2200. This has happened before, but I don`t think UB has mentioned it, as cannot be relied upon. Sked shows Available Time Slot at 2300 Mondays but for only a semihour, so did `Camp Constitution Radio` interrupt it at 2330? Now in ``Old Time Religion`` gospel tune with parody lyrix, but I could not understand the new title. Then some Weird Al, ``Dog Eat Dog``; 0223 over to Sir Jack Scratchy of `Behaviour Night`; 0234 `Lost Discs Radio Show`. Each plugs WBCQ and the times their shows are mainly heard. 0245 cosmikdebris reverb and Jane but I don`t hear a program name, 0258 UB wrapping up offering special eQSL for reports to a gmail address I missed. There will be another one of these around Thanksgiving (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) WBCQ Worx special: see GERMANY [and non] ** U S A. 5085, UT Sun Sept 6 at 0023, TONITO has just started on WTWW-2 so I switch immediately to its $tereo webcast: starts playing `Downtown` since Bob Heil in Belleville IL is right across from DNTN St Louis; and the rest is very familiar too as a rerun from last? week featuring Les Larsen playing via his SD card on a Wurlitzer type built by Alan/Allan/Allen/Alun/Alyn Organs. Last song is Que Sera, until 0054 right into unorganic Pink Floyd The Wall (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5050, UT Mon Sept 7 at 0105, WWRB dead air interrupted irregularly by bits of music cutting on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7505, Sept 9 at 0059, still no WRNO (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 730 kHz, Sept 4 at 0426 UT, the unmistakable roarer Brother Scare with almost-constant plugging of his phone number, slightly above the QRM level. Compared to 7730 WRMI, 730 is running 21 seconds behind; still at 0458 recheck in more contact info. No ID breaks are built-in to the Overcomer feed, but 0459 seems to cut away, maybe local ID but uncopyable. 0500 Fox `News` but can`t be certain same station. TOM website has redesigned its Radio Log starting with SW stations in table format, but it`s never 100% accurate: https://overcomerministry.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Radio-Log.pdf Only 5 AM stations remain at the bottom, no more WCKY but still WWVA; and two of them are shown for the Sabbath service only, Sat 9-11 am CDT, including one on 730: KQPN 730 West Memphis AR. But this is certainly not when I am hearing it. I can`t find a website for itself, but searching indicates it`s Yahoo Sports Radio, and owned by F. W. Robberts, i.e. same as WMQM and WWCR! There is streaming link: https://tunein.com/radio/KQPN-730-s35522/ which confirms at this time it`s not sports at all but 0515 UT with: Brother Scare! KQPN is U4, 1/1 kW with a non-major lobe thisaway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 730, Sept 5 at 0450 UT, silly baseball game, mentions Dodger Stadium more than once, poor signal vs QRM partly Spanish. 24 hours ago on 730 I was getting Brother Scare which turned out to be KQPN Arkansas, diverging from its nominal format of Yahoo Sports Radio --- but that`s too far from LA to care about the Dodgers. I consult the Sports Radio listings in IRCA DX Monitor June 27, to find no 730s even circumCalifornia on the Dodger network. Any radio roster on the Dodgers website is well-hidden, but what team are they playing so late tonight? Colorado Rockies, and they *do* have a 730, KLOE Goodland KS, one of our closest 730s, so that makes sense; it`s 292 miles vs 257 from KKDA TX Korean. However, NRC AM Log shows KLOE as U1 1000/20 watts, wow! What do you bet it`s on day power. BTW, address for it is in nearby Colby. See also 850: KOA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 850, Sept 5 at 0454 UT, KOA Denver, silly baseball game with *lots* of dead air --- no cheering crowd to fill the void, as the PBP announcer just says nothing for up to 20 seconds, yawn; however there is a trace of some kind of pulsing noise. So strong it`s QRMing 840. This would be Colorado Rockies game vs Dodgers, axually same one I had just heard on 730, but could not tell if same feed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 850, Sept 6 at 0648 UT, KOA Denver seems off! Something JBA but no comparison to 860 KKOW or 840 WHAS; quite a contrast to 24 hours ago when KOA was blasting in with a Dodgers/Rockies SBBG; and another one was scheduled for tonight. Unseems auroral conditions where WCCO 830 is most obviously weakened; but 1160 KSL also from the NW is only poor (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 850, Sept 8 at 0636 UT, NO KOA, like night before last around this time, leaving only something very weak on frequency. I`ve seen no other reports of this, not even from Colorado. Perhaps it`s reduced power so Aurorans would still hear it? Perhaps2 they`ve been off the air only after midnight for maintenance? Indeed, it`s on with usual blasting signal, UT Sept 9 at 0132 check with silly ballgame. If we could get rid of all this storm noise, would be a golden DX opportunity opening up 850 for DX. Will this continue? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 850, Sept 9 at 0629 UT, KOA Denver is on tonight in C2CAM break. I notified NRC and IRCA that it seemed off the night before, Sept 8 and also Sept 6; Paul Walker, Laramie WY, replied, ``No Glenn, incorrect. KOA has not been off at all and has been operating as normal during the times you mention, according to a KOA engineer I spoke to. AM conditions up here have been interesting lately. I've had a few stations that should be strong be pretty weak and I've heard stations I don't normally hear being present.`` I`m still not convinced; tho it is hard to prove a negative. ND 50 kW KOA at under 500 miles is totally dominant here, yet I heard no trace of it, when conditions were `normal` as far as I could tell --- certainly no auroral blackout (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1147, 1157, 1173, 1183 kHz, Sept 4 at 0437, heavy IBOC noise peaks as KSL 1160 SLC and KFAQ 1170 Tulsa fight it out. I daresay nowhere else among the `clear` channels audible here is there any such crap remaining (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1370, still no sign of KGNO Dodge City KS. I need a better excuse to drive all the way to DC to investigate. Following up: consulting Tim Hall`s Final Report of last October`s Border Inn NV/UT DXpedition, I see among hundreds of logs including several on 1370, there is none of KGNO, so I wrote him, ``I was looking to see whether you got KGNO Dodge City KS, which I suspect of being secretly off the air.`` Tim replies: ``KGNO was a regular catch at this location until at least 3 or 4 years ago (I don't recall exactly), but I haven't had a trace of them since, despite the fact that the channel is less crowded after some of the Mexican stations went off. I also suspect KGNO is off... or maybe just in extreme disrepair? Same with KLEY-1130, a station whose travails you have documented in recent years. I think the same can be said for some of the HPRN stations in Texas/Oklahoma/New Mexico. [High Plains Radio Network] has been consolidating operations for several years now, running the same programming on groups of 2 or 3 stations that used to have their own formats and staffs. I've been especially suspicious of KICA-980 [Clovis NM], which I have never heard, even on optimal sunset/sunrise dates/times, and even when KCLV-1240 and KSEL-1450 [Portales NM] have been nightly catches. Also in last October's recordings, I had no trace of KVOP-1090 [Plainview TX] at all, and they are usually a bit of a pest on several wires. HPRN has almost no web presence at this point, just a basic skeleton of a web site for all of their stations on one page. In contrast to the general state of HPRN stations, little KTAT-1570 [Frederick OK, eluding gh] was a nightly catch this year. They didn't put as big a dent in XERF as little KDDD-800 [Dumas TX] puts in XEROK, but there were several clear IDs audible in my recordings.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 11835, Sept 5 at 0445, JBA carrier from R. WHRI itself is still programming on 5920 at 0022; and by 0212 on 7315. I want to see what program sked now shows, https://familybroadcastingcorporation.com/whr/ but website won`t display them any more, unless I am being misdirected to wrong pages, where you may only search schedules if you enter all the data correctly --- but they go nowhere. The streaming page of Angels 1, 2 and 6 is also dead. Maybe they are winding down for the big sale to WBCQ? This page displays the new VOV logo! Yet schedule info is dated 2013! It also says VOV was founded on Sept 7, 1945, so happy anniversary! https://vovworld.vn/en-US/introsection.vov Nothing found there about WHRI or not (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VIETNAM [and non]. My observations last few days of VOV missing from WHRI 7315 relays including English at 0000 --- nor any Spanish at 0046 Sept 9 --- are now explained by Jeff White on this week`s AWR Wavescan, after quoting one of my previous logs of it wondering whether that would continue under WBCQ ownership: ``We have information that Voice of Vietnam relays from South Carolina, WHRI are going to be discontinued, most likely, as the station is planning to probably eliminate its shortwave broadcasts altogether, and it may do shortwave [sic] broadcasts to the United States via some local AM and FM stations`` This presumably comes from recent virtual-only B-20 HFCC conference. Aoki/NDXC shows both 9730 & 7280 also with Sound of Hope from Taiwan at this time, so jammed of course, Commies vs Commies! CRI in Russian also sked at 16 on 9730, so it gets jammed too. Better frequency management, such as avoiding China would make VOV more successful a SW broadcaster. 7280 always has a bigsig into UTwente splashing upon IRRS/WOR on 7290 Mondays at 1800, so how about now at 1600? Yes, VG S9+15 signal without the CCCCCCI; 9730 is even better, S9+20 but with some hum, AMSynch measuring it on 9729.947v; while 7220 on different beam is poorly audible. 1615 into mailbag, with 75th anniversary congrats from Pakistanis; NOTE! Sept 5. Along with the VOA Africans on 4930 & 4960. Onlything in Aoki is the old R. San Antonio, Perú. It seems to be missing most of the time but occasionally reported, with a Christian format. Back to the present Sept 6: at 0117, clips of ``I had a dream`` and ``sieg heil`` to intro next show, `Lecciones de la Historia` about Babylon citing bible verses. At 0120 I check my own R75 reception on 4940: JBA carrier, but the intermittent carrier on 4941 is stronger. At 0136, Bonaire in synch mode tuned to 4940.00 says its carrier -1.6 Hz, and steady. At 0142 het cuts on again as Lecciones show is terminating; music break; 0146 bible verse about Jeová, another song. 0152 intros a 20-minute program. I suspend for a while at 0200-0300 in order to hear `Weekend Radio` on WCLV webcast. 0300 recheck, 4940 is still S9 at Bonaire with a song. 0325 I check again here, and now it`s JBA talk at S9/+10 vs HSNL. Recheck Bonaire at 0345, now it`s JBA there, so much weaker it should be some other station after sign-off, but none are known. Idea that this 4940 might be a new Colombian is enforced by the ``Colombian content`` of that web reference which I look up later, to find: https://www.lamontanacolombia.com/info ``Colombian Film written and directed by Lisa & Alethia Stendal On a mountain in Colombia, paramilitary forces have Marxist rebels cornered against a high ridge without food. In search of a way out, the guerrillas ask an old friend (a missionary they had held hostage and released some 20 years ago) for the number of a humanitarian priest in hopes of finding someone to bring food to the mountain. The missionary mistakes the priests' name for the head paramilitary leader and inadvertently gives the guerrilla commanders the wrong number. Through a humorous confusion two sworn enemies end up face to face in an emotional encounter that unveils the very core of Colombia's conflict and the journey each one must take to finally find peace in a lifetime of war. The film came out a few years ago. Possibly they were playing excerpt from its soundtrack. Stendals are a familiar name, as the plot seems like the life story of a missionary relative of theirs, Martin Stendal, was the force behind the still dormant Voz de tu Conciencia 6010 and Alcaraván Radio 5910, but which are still slated for revival, and in fact 6010 as Alcaraván was heard for one? night only as I reported, last March 10 UT. No report of either frequency since. Rafael Rodríguez had some contact with the stations as QSL manager. However, Radio San Antonio, Ucayali, Perú has been reported recently active on 4940, so tentatively that is what we are getting now, not Colombia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jW9jooaoxlw As received Aug 14, 2020 in Lima on 4940, ID right at the start. As for the ethnicradio website RRR referenced, there is nothing about the current matter, only one item from this year, in June, about R. Chazuta, Peru: https://www.ethnicradio.org/2020/06/radio-waves-in-chazuta-peru.html which is nothing but an 18-second testimonial, also for Radio Logos. They make no mention of R San Antonio, Peru, which as I pointed out was active in August on 4940. It didn`t seem overtly religious in nature and the Latin rhythms heard later weren't reminiscent of an evangelical broadcaster to my ears anyway. Have attached an audio file in case you can hear something that clearly identifies the station, so would welcome any feedback. Mailing addresses in Costa Rica and Bolivia are given. He keeps going with no breaks past 0200, but his background noise surges whenever he pauses even briefly: turn off the AVC! We really need an ID or at least some clue where this is coming from, so I keep half-listening until 0205 when that SDR bumps me off, but MEGO, altho near 100% readable, I am *not* going to pay rapt attention to this long-winded gospel huxter. Then try other SDRs: no good at DR, Boa Vista, Pardinho, Santiago; and Bogotá won`t work. 0237 try Bonaire again and get back on as he is *still* going, mentions Coronavirus, etc., a bit weaker at S6-S7. At 0259 suddenly stops sermonizing, NO ID!!! But over to YL plugging the lamontanacolombia.com website again, some credits, and then starts narrating `Capítulo 12` of something, mentioning ``Narnia`` several times; hmmm? Back on at 0346; still going with dialog. Enough for now, but it might keep going late into the night or all-night.
